Organizations Filed Purposes: THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS TO DEVELOP EDUCATION, HEALTH CARE AND OTHER SOCIALLY SIGNIFICANT PROGRAMS THAT ARE DEDICATED TO ENHANCING THE HEALTH AND WELLNESS OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN THE COACHELLA VALLEY REGION OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.

HOME VISITATION PROGRAM: THE DIFFERENTIAL RESPONSE (DR) PROGRAM IS FUNDED BY COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE, DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SOCIAL SERVICES. DR SERVES AT-RISK FAMILIES WITH UNSUBSTANTIATED CHILDREN SERVICES DIVISION REFERRALS, WITH CHILDREN 0 TO 17 YEARS OF AGE. TRAINED PROFESSIONALS WORK WITH AT-RISK FAMILIES TO IMPROVE PARENTS' SKILLS IN SEVERAL DOMAINS. THE PROGRAM FOCUSES ON THE FAMILY'S UNIQUE STRENGTHS AND NEEDS, AND PROVIDES LINKAGE TO ANCILLARY SERVICES WITH FOLLOW UP.

THE OPHELIA PROJECT: THE OPHELIA PROJECT IS A COMPREHENSIVE 5-YEAR MENTORING PROGRAM SERVING TEEN GIRLS IN 8TH THROUGH 12TH GRADE ACROSS THE COACHELLA VALLEY. OPHELIA PROJECT MODEL CONSISTS OF TEAM-MENTORING THAT TAKES PLACE IN THE SCHOOLS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY, AT THE INVITATION OF EACH SCHOOL DISTRICT. GIRLS RECEIVE 2 TEAM-MENTORED PROGRAMS PER MONTH, 15 SESSIONS PER YEAR, DELIVERED BY VETTED, TRAINED, AND CERTIFIED VOLUNTEER MENTORS AND COMMUNITY PARTNER PRESENTERS. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES ENRICHMENT CURRICULUM DESIGNED TO INCREASE GPA AND GRADUATION RATES, IMPROVE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, ENCOURAGE COLLEGE PREPARATION/CAREER READINESS, AND PROVIDES RESOURCES FOR HIGHER EDUCATION.

HOME VISITATION PROGRAMS: THE SAFECARE PROGRAM IS FUNDED BY FIRST 5 RIVERSIDE. SAFECARE IS AN EVIDENCE-BASED PARENT TRAINING PROGRAM FOR FAMILIES EXPECTING A CHILD OR WHO HAVE A CHILD AGE 0 TO 5 YEARS OF AGE. SAFECARE TARGETS THREE RISK FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH NEGLECT AND PHYSICAL ABUSE: HOME SAFETY, HEALTH, AND PARENT-CHILD / PARENT-INFANT INTERACTIONS. SERVICES FOCUS ON PROMOTING A SAFER HOME ENVIRONMENT AND APPROPRIATE SUPERVISION, ENCOURAGING SYSTEMATIC HEALTH DECISION MAKING, AND ENHANCING POSITIVE PARENT- INFANT/CHILD INTERACTIONS. THE COACHELLA VALLEY HEALTHY FAMILIES OF AMERICA (HFA)/CALWORKS PROGRAM IS FUNDED BY FIRST 5 RIVERSIDE. HFA IS AN EVIDENCE-BASED HOME VISITING MODEL SERVING CALWORKS RECIPIENTS. VISITS BEGIN PRENATALLY OR WITHIN THE FIRST THREE MONTHS AFTER A CHILD'S BIRTH AND CONTINUE UNTIL CHILDREN ARE TWO YEARS OLD. THE PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM IS TO REDUCE CHILD MALTREATMENT, SUPPORT POSITIVE HEALTH, DEVELOPMENT, AND WELL-BEING OUTCOMES FOR FAMILIES, EXPAND FUTURE EDUCATIONAL, ECONOMIC, AND FINANCIAL CAPABILITY OPPORTUNITIES, AND INCREASE THE LIKELIHOOD OF EXITING POVERTY.
