Organizations Filed Purposes: LIFT TO RISE IS A COLLECTIVE IMPACT ORGANIZATION THAT WORKS TO ACHIEVE A FUTURE WHERE ALL COACHELLA VALLEY FAMILIES ARE HEALTHY, STABLE, AND THRIVING. OUR WORK BRINGS TOGETHER COMMUNITY AND INSTITUTIONAL LEADERS TO COLLABORATIVELY SOLVE THE UNDERLYING CAUSES OF POVERTY AND INEQUALITY.

ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY: LIFT TO RISE'S ECONOMIC COLLABORATIVE ACTION NETWORK (CAN) IS COMPRISED OF REPRESENTATIVES FROM OUR MORE THAN 50 PARTNERS. THE ECONOMIC CAN IS CURRENTLY DEVELOPING A COMPREHENSIVE SHARED STRATEGY THAT OFFERS A PATH TOWARDS LONG-TERM ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY FOR VALLEY RESIDENTS. AS WE ESTABLISH THIS LONG-TERM VISION, WE ARE ALSO ADDRESSING IMMEDIATE NEEDS AROUND AFFORDABILITY. FOR EXAMPLE, LIFT TO RISE IS WORKING CLOSELY WITH DESERT COMMUNITY ENERGY THROUGHOUT TO IMPLEMENT AN ENHANCED ENROLLMENT PROGRAM FOR THE CALIFORNIA ALTERNATE RATES FOR ENERGY (CARE) AND FAMILY ELECTRIC RATE ASSISTANCE (FERA) PROGRAMS IN PALM DESERT, PALM SPRINGS, AND CATHEDRAL CITY. AN ESTIMATED 6,000 ELIGIBLE ACCOUNTS FOR CARE OR FERA COMBINED IN THE DCE TERRITORY ARE NOT CURRENTLY ACCESSED BY RESIDENTS. ENROLLING EVEN SO MUCH AS 25% OF THIS POPULATION WILL BRING AN ESTIMATED SAVINGS OF 872,465 FOR LOW INCOME FAMILIES. THESE EFFORTS CAN EQUATE TO UTILITY COST SAVINGS OF 864 (CARE) AND 443 (FERA) PER PARTICIPATING HOUSEHOLD.

HEALTH & WELLNESS: AS OUR HOUSING CAN PREPARES TO LAUNCH THE HOUSING FUND TO SUPPORT LONG-TERM SOLUTIONS TO AFFORDABILITY IN THE COACHELLA VALLEY, WE HAVE BEEN ADDRESSING IMMEDIATE NEEDS - ESPECIALLY RELATED TO THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC - THROUGH IMMEDIATE RENTAL ASSISTANCE. WORKING WITH PARTNERS AT UNITED WAY, AS WELL AS RIVERSIDE COUNTY, OUR UNITED LIFT RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM IS CURRENTLY THE THIRD LARGEST PER-CAPITA RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM IN AMERICA. SINCE JUNE, UNITED LIFT HAS ASSISTED 5,639 HOUSEHOLDS ACROSS RIVERSIDE COUNTY WITH A COMBINED 19,489,096.55 IN CARES ACT-FUNDED EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE. OF THOSE, 41% OF APPROVED APPLICANTS ARE CONSIDERED EXTREMELY LOW-INCOME, 28% ARE VERY LOW-INCOME, AND 19% ARE LOW- INCOME. NEARLY HALF (45%) OF APPROVED APPLICANTS REPORT BEING SINGLE PARENTS, WITH 81% OF SINGLE PARENTS IDENTIFYING AS FEMALE. AMONG APPROVED APPLICANTS, 53% REPORT BEING OUT OF WORK DUE TO COVID-19, YET ONLY 38% ARE RECEIVING UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFITS. HOUSING STABILITY IS A SOCIAL DETERMINANT OF HEALTH AND CREATING CHANNELS THAT ADDRESS IMMEDIATE NEEDS HELPS IMPROVE OVERALL HEALTH AND WELLNESS.

HOUSING: LIFT TO RISE'S HOUSING COLLABORATIVE ACTION NETWORK (CAN) IS COMPRISED OF MORE THAN 50 PARTICIPANTS REPRESENTING A WIDE RANGE OF CENTRAL VALLEY PARTNERS WORKING TO ADDRESS RENT BURDEN AND AFFORDABILITY IN THE REGION.
