Organizations Filed Purposes:
To provide for the social service needs of the Jewish and general community throughout the greater Coachella Valley with a commitment to promote the well being of persons of all ages, Income and lifestyles.
Provided counseling services, case management, information and referral, support and therapy groups, all to the residents of the Coachella Valley on a non-sectarian basis. This includes counseling services for Desert Sands Unified School District elementary schools. JFS provided direct services to more than 2,800 men, women and children in need.
The JFS has many additional programs to benefit the people of the Coachella Valley, for instance:Through generous grants provided by the Auen Foundation, SCAN, City of Indian Wells, PS CDBG, and private donors, about $120,000 of funds were disbursed for emergency needs for low income individuals. Disbursements were made for emergency medical bills, utility bills, rental assistance, emergency repairs, and other basic necessities.Food Cards were distributed by a grant provided by City of Rancho Mirage. Over 200 - $25/$50/$100 cards were distributed to low income individuals.The "Let's Do Lunch" program during the 19-20 fiscal year, operated at six (6) locations. There have been over 200 participants on a regular basis. "Let's Do Lunch" is a social activity program for home bound, isolated or shut in seniors, where they enjoy afternoons with lunch, entertainment, exercise, art projects and other activities. JSF continues to serve the Jewish community of the Coachella Valley. There is a monthly program for Holocaust survivors and additional activities for the Jewish holidays.JFS continues to provide transportation for seniors and/or clients of JFS for medical appointments and the "Let's Do Lunch" Program during the fiscal year.
