MAGICAL BRIDGE FOUNDATION REDEFINES INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUNDS.
IN 2019, THE FOUNDATION HELD VARIOUS PROGRAMS AT THE MAGICAL BRIDGE'S FLAGSHIP PLAYGROUND IN PALO, ALTO, CA WHERE AN ESTIMATED 25,000 PEOPLE VISITED THE PLAYGROUND EACH MONTH AND HOSTED APPROXIMATELY 300 VOLUNTEERS, WHO WORKED AS KINDNESS AMBASSADORS, VOLUNTEERED FOR OUR SCHOOL-BASED COIN DRIVES, OR ASSISTED AT MONTHLY EVENTS AND OUR SUMMER CONCERT SERIES AT THE PLAYGROUND. OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDED: (1) 2019 "MUSIC IS MAGIC" CONCERT SERIES AT THE PLAYGROUND WITH 25 CONCERTS AT 10K ATTENDEES OVER THE WHOLE SERIES, (2) FURTHERED THE WORK OF "THE MAGIC MAP," A GROUP CREATING PLAYGROUND INNOVATIONS FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED, (3) SHOWCASED MAGICAL BRIDGE PLAYGROUND INNOVATIONS AT THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM IN DAVOS, SWITZERLAND. IN 2019, MAGICAL BRIDGE FOUNDATION HAD PARTNERSHIPS TO BUILD PLAYGROUNDS IN REDWOOD CITY, MORGAN HILL, MOUNTAIN VIEW, SANTA CLARA, SUNNYVALE AND THE CURIODYSSEY MUSEUM. AS PART OF THESE CONTRACTS, MAGICAL BRIDGE FOUNDATION SUPPORTED APPLICATIONS BY THE APPLICABLE CITY TO THE COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA FOR AN ALL-INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND GRANT PROGRAM (AIPG). THROUGH THIS PARTNERSHIP, MAGICAL BRIDGE PLAYGROUND PROJECTS SECURED $2M OF AIPG FUNDING FOR THE CITY OF MORGAN HILL, $1,7M FOR THE CITY OF SUNNYVALE, $1.7M FOR THE CITY OF SANTA CLARA, AND $1.7M FOR THE CITY OF MOUNTAINVIEW. THESE GRANTS WERE PLEDGED DIRECTLY TO THE CITIES AND WERE NOT RECEIVED BY MAGICAL BRIDGE FOUNDATION. ALTHOUGH MAGICAL BRIDGE SUPPORTED THE CITIES' APPLICATIONS FOR GOVERNMENT FUNDING FOR THE PLAYGROUND PROJECTS, MAGICAL BRIDGE DID NOT DIRECTLY RECEIVE ANY GOVERNMENT GRANTS IN 2019.
