FUNDRAISING TO BUILD PALO ALTO'S FIRST LOCAL HISTORY MUSEUM CREATING A NEW LONG-NEEDED COMMUNITY RESOURCE, WE ARE EXCITED TO DEVELOP A WORLD-CLASS MUSEUM WHICH WILL:- BUILD EMPATHY WITHIN OUR DIVERSE COMMUNITY AND NOURISH PRIDE AND CIVIC ENGAGMENET.- BE A FREE CULTURAL DESTINATION IN THE HEART OF PALO ALTO, WITH INNOVATIVE EXHIBITIONS, PROGRAMS AND RESOURCES TO TELL THE STORIES OF OUR PALO ALTO-STANFORD COMMUNITY, AND OUR LEGACY OF INNOVATION AND FAR-REACHING IMPACT.- BE A TEACHING LOCATION AND RESOURCE ON STATE AND LOCAL HISTORY, ENRICHING AND EXPANDING THE CURRICULUM FOR STUDENTS FROM PALO ALTO, EAST PALO ALTO AND STANFORD, WHETHER PUBLIC, PRIVATE OR HOME-SCHOOLED.
COLLECTIONS, ARCHIVES & EXHIBITION PLANNING: WHAT WILL YOU SEE IN THE NEW MUSEUM? OUR CUTTING-EDGE VISION OF INTERACTIVE GALLERIES WILL PERSONALIZE THE MUSEUM EXPERIENCE WITH INNOVATIVE CURATION OF HISTORICAL MOMENTS IN PALO ALTO HISTORY. OUR GOAL IS TO INSPIRE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND PARTICIPATION, ATTRACTING NOT ONLY OUR LOCAL HISTORY MAKERS, BUT ALSO THE NEXT GENERATION.-WORKING WITH THE CITY AND CHAMBER, WE CELEBRATED OUR CITY'S 125TH ANNIVERSARY, MOUNTING AN EXHIBIT OF THE CONTENTS OF THE CITY'S TIME CAPSULE CREATED FOR ITS CENTENNIAL. PAHA THEN ARCHIVED THOSE MATERIALS.-WE CONNECTED EXPERTS WITH CITY COMMISSIONERS SEEKING TO UNDERSTAND THE FULL EXPERIENCE OF BLACK AND BROWN CITIZENS OVER THE DECADES, WITH SOME VOICES BEING HEARD FOR THE FIRST TIME.-OUR TEEN ADVISORY COUNCIL ATTRACTED STUDENTS FROM LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS (PUBLIC AND PRIVATE), TOOK ON THE PROJECT OF RE-FILLING THE CITY'S TIME CAPSULE FOR 2094, AND ARE ON COURSE TO COMPLETE A NEW TEEN-MODERATED HISTORIC DOWNTOWN WALKING TOUR AND A TIME CAPSULE EXHIBIT.
AS WE ALL FACED THE IMPACT OF CORONAVIRUS, WE POSTPONED MANY OF OUR PLANS FOR COMMUNITY PROGRAMS AND COLLABORATIONS, BUT NEVERTHELESS WE CONNECTED WITH OUR COMMUNITY.-OUR TEEN ADVISORY COUNCIL CREATED A SERIES OF HISTORY-BASED HOME ACTIVITIES TO INTEREST AND EDUCATE YOUNG PEOPLE OF ALL AGES WHILE IN LOCKDOWN.-WE REVISED AND REFRESHED OUR WEBSITE, ADDING NEW STORIES OF LOCAL HISTORY FROM COMMUNITY MEMBERS ("MOMENTS IN TIME").-WE PROGRESSED ON COLLECTING STORIES FOR THE FUTURE MUSEUM FROM "COMMUNITY CURATORS AND SEEK MORE SO THAT EVERY PERSON WILL SEE "THEIR" STORY IN THE NEW MUSEUM.-WE HOSTED A HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL CHINESE NEW YEAR'S CELEBRATION FUNDRAISER IN COLLABORATION WITH AVENIDAS, OUR SENIOR CENTER.
