THE BAY AREA SPORTS ORGANIZING COMMITTEE (BASOC) SERVES AS THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND MANY OF THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA'S EFFORTS TO HOST EVENTS FOR THE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL SPORTS COMMUNITY. WE CONTINUE TO SHOWCASE OUR VENUES AND AUDIENCES TO AS MANY ATHLETES AND SPORTS GOVERNING BODIES AS POSSIBLE. OLYMPIC-RELATED ACTIVITIES INCLUDING NO. CA. OLYMPIANS ORGANIZATION. ONGOING SUPPORT ANNUAL SUPPORT OF THE CALIFORNIA/BAY AREA SENIOR GAMES; GOLF CLASSIC; S.F. GIANTS NIGHT. ONE-TIME ORGANIZER IN 2011 OF THE U.S. NATIONALS SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS; 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF CHINESE/AMERICAN PING PONG DIPLOMACY

BAY AREA SENIOR GAMES 2016: THE BAY AREA SENIOR GAMES ARE A LEGACY OF THE 2009 SUMMER NATIONAL SENIOR GAMES IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. THE GAMES PROMOTE HEALTHY, ACTIVE LIFESTYLES FOR ADULTS OVER THE AGE OF 50. WE AIM TO PROVIDE EXCELLENT CONDITIONS FOR SENIORS WHO SEEK A COMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENT ALONG WITH THE CAMARADERIE OF OTHER ATHLETES. REGISTRATION IS OPEN TO EVERYONE OVER 50. WE ENCOURAGE PARTICIPANTS TO EXERCISE REGULARLY, PROPERLY PREPARE FOR COMPETITION AND FAMILIARIZE THEMSELVES WITH THE RULES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THEIR SPORT. OVER 1,300 ATHLETES (MEN AND WOMEN AGED 50+) PARTICIPATED IN THIRTEEN SPORTS.THE NINTH ANNUAL BAY AREA SENIOR GAMES WERE HELD ON THE 30TH OF APRIL THROUGH THE 4TH OF JUNE 2016.ATHLETES COMPETED IN TWELVE SPORTS AT STANFORD, PALO ALTO, AND THROUGHOUT THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA.

OLYMPIAN REUNION: US OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC REUNION, HELD OVER THREE DAYS IN FEBRUARY 2016, IN LAS VEGAS TO CELEBRATE THE OLYMPIC SPIRIT AND COMMON EXPERIENCES OF OLYMPIANS AND PARALYMPIANS OF ALL SPORTS AND ALL YEARS. OVER 550 OLYMPIANS AND PARALYMPIANS AND THEIR FAMILIES ATTENDED AND ENJOYED LECTURES, ORAL HISTORY TAPING, INTERVIEWS BY MEDIA, TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT, PANEL DISCUSSIONS, AND OLYMPIC THEMED FILM FESTIVAL AND GATHERINGS BY OLYMPIC YEAR AND SPORT, WELCOME RECEPTIONS, AND A CELEBRATION DINNER.

WELCOME HOME OLYMPIANS DINNER: THE DINNER WAS HELD ON OCTOBER 7, 2016. AFTER THE OLYMPIC GAMES IN RIO CAME TO AN END, THE ORGANIZATION AND THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA OLYMPIANS WELCOMED HOME THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA ATHLETES WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE 2016 OLYMPIC GAMES IN RIO. ATHLETES WERE ALSO HONORED FROM THE 2014 WINTER GAMES.
