WE'RE A STUDENT-CENTERED SUPPORT SYSTEM THAT SERVES ANY STUDENT WHO OPTS INTO OUR SERVICES. CAP FOSTERS MEANINGFUL INTERACTIONS TO ASSIST STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH ANY AND ALL COLLEGE READINESS AND SUCCESS STEPS, SUPPORTING THEM AS THEY NAVIGATE THE JOURNEY FROM MIDDLE SCHOOL THROUGH COLLEGE GRADUATION. WE STRIVE TO ENSURE THAT STUDENTS CONSIDER ALL THEIR OPTIONS BECAUSE WE BELIEVE THAT COLLEGE SHOULD BE ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE REGARDLESS OF ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, INCOME LEVEL, OR ANY OTHER QUALIFYING FACTORS. OUR MISSION IS TO PREPARE UNDERSERVED STUDENTS FOR COLLEGE SUCCESS.
FOUNDED IN 2006, COLLEGE ACCESS PLAN PREPARES UNDERSERVED STUDENTS TO SUCCEED IN COLLEGE.
HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM:COLLEGE ACCESS PLAN (CAP) PROVIDED COLLEGE SUPPORT IN AN ON-CAMPUS COMPUTER LAB TWO DAYS PER WEEK AT SIX PASADENA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT (PUSD) HIGH SCHOOLS. 681 STUDENTS ATTENDED THIS PROGRAM IN TOTAL AND PARTICIPATED IN ACTIVITIES SUCH AS COMPLETING COLLEGE AND FINANCIAL AID APPLICATIONS, APPLYING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS, SEARCHING FOR COLLEGES, AND SAT PREPARATION COURSES.THE PURPOSE OF CAP'S ON-CAMPUS OFFERINGS IS TO PROVIDE FUNDAMENTAL COLLEGE INFORMATION TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND TO FOLLOW THAT INFORMATION UP WITH PROGRAMS THAT ARE INDIVIDUALIZED TO MEET EACH STUDENT'S UNIQUE COLLEGE NEEDS. THESE OFFERINGS ARE RUN IN COLLABORATION WITH ON-SITE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS AND WITH THE ADMINISTRATORS AT SCHOOL SITES. THEY ARE AVAILABLE FOR DROP-INS, PROVIDING NO BARRIERS TO ACCESS.
MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM:CAP, THROUGH ONE PROGRAM PARNTER, PROVIDED BI-WEEKLY NINE-WEEK INTERACTIVE COLLEGE, CAREER, AND ACADEMIC LITERACY MODULES TO STUDENTS ATTENDING THE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS AT SEVEN PUSD MIDDLE SCHOOLS. THIS PROGRAM SERVED A TOTAL OF 260 MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS.
I HEART COLLEGE:CAP SUPPORTS COLLEGE STUDENTS THROUGH COLLEGE GRADUATION. THIS YEAR, 473 STUDENTS RECEIVED ONLINE, IN-PERSON, AND E-RESOURCES IN THIS PROGRAM. STUDENTS RECEIVED EXPERT SUPPORT WITH ENROLLING IN COLLEGE COURSES, RENEWING THEIR FINANCIAL AID, AND NAVIGATING THE COLLEGE LANDSCAPE IN ADDITION TO OPPORTUNITIES TO SOCIALIZE WITH THEIR PEERS.
