Cedar Springs Waldorf School is private, co-educational,and non-sectarian educational institution, established in 1989 and located in Placerville, CA. The school serves approximately 170 students who range from preschool to eighth grade. The stated mission of the school is to:Inspire our students to reach their highest potential as free-thinking, creative human beings who have a life-long love of learning.This mission is accomplished through the following means:a) Providing a full elementary Waldorf curriculum. Cedar Springs Waldorf School is an independent, accredited Waldorf school with programs spanning Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Our goal is for children to fully develop their own unique capacities and to be inspired with a lifelong love of learning.
During the 2017-18 school year, the school had a total enrollment of 172 students. Our curriculum is tailored to the requirements of the children at different ages. Some aspects of the academic program include the following:a) Encouraging curiosity about the world through direct experience, including woodworking, gardening, care of farm animals, and the investigation of nature.b) Cultivation of language skills through storytelling, literature, song, poetry, and drama. c) Refinement of fine motor skills though the fine arts, handwork, and music.d) Establishment of healthy daily and weekly routines (i.e. rhythm).e) Use of the imagination as a key element in critical thinking and problem solving. f)A culture of respect for the individual, community, and nature.The school additionally hosts 5-7 seasonal celebrations annually for purposes of social bonding and connection with our greater community.
