THE TRAINING ENABLES HAITIAN WORKERS TO OBTAIN EMPLOYMENT IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY TO PROVIDE FOOD, SHELTER, SCHOOL AND MEDICAL CARE TO THEIR FAMILIES. OUR TRAINING COMBINES CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION WITH ON THE JOB TRAINING AND SUPERVISION EXTOLLO PROVIDED CONTRUCTION TRAINING FOR HAITIAN WORKERS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: LEVEL 1 - WE COMPLETED 6 COURSES COLLECTIVELY TRAINING 63 HAITIAN STUDENTS IN WELDING, MASONRY, AND CONCRETE IN 2019 LEVEL 2- WE EMPLOYED 39 PEOPLE AS PART OF OUR LEVEL 2 "LEARN AS YOU EARN" PROGRAM WHERE STUDENTS COLLECTIVELY RECEIVED 26,600 HOURS OF PRACTICAL TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCE IN 2019.
CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT TO HAITIAN WORKERS IN THE CONSTRUCTION TRADES AND FOR THESE PROJECTS MANY EXTOLLO GRADUATES ARE EMPLOYED. THESE COSTS INCLUDE DIRECT AND INDIRECT COSTS OF EXTERNAL COMPLETED PROJECTS.ADDITIONALLY, WE ASSISTED THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WITH CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS TO MITIGATE FLOODING OF HOMES AND ROADS.
IN 2018, EXTOLLO INTERNATIONAL BEGAN OPERATING IN HAITI UNDER THE HAITIAN ENTITY EXTOLLO TRAINING AND CONSTRUCTION SA OF WHICH EXTOLLO INTERNATIONAL IS THE MAJORITY SHAREHOLDER. THIS ENABLED HAITIAN STAFF TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF MANY ASPECTS OF OPERATIONS, TRAINING AND CONSTRUCTION. CONTINUING TO BUILD OUR CAMPUS FACILITIES WAS A PRIMARY FOCUS IN 2019. SOME OF THESE PROJECTS INCLUDED BEGINNING CONSTRUCTION OF A RESTROOM FACILITY FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF, COMPLETING CONSTRUCTION ON STAFF HOUSING, CLASSROOM, TRAINING CENTER AND OFFICE BUILDING, AND SECURITY FENCING. IN ADDITION TO THE $126,925 THAT WAS RECORDED AS EXPENSE IN 2019, THE ORGANIZATION CAPITALIZED BUILDING COSTS OF $76,877. RESULTING IN A TOTAL EXPENSE OF $203,802.
