Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Centers mission is to provide an environment for our senior community where they know they are genuinely cared about, respected, appreciated, and welcomed through offering a variety of programming, activities, a shared meal, and a warm smile.
Nutrition:The nutrition program consists of three programs (Congregate Dining, Home Delivered Meals and Transportation) that serve a hot lunch to the elderly in Poway and the greater Poway valley. Lunch is a restaurant-style dining center, Monday through Friday, supported by a 14 passenger bus that picks up and returns diners. Home delivered meals are covered by 20-30 volunteer drivers who deliver lunch in their own vehicles Monday through Friday.*In-house hot lunch served daily Monday through Friday, which is prepared in the facility kitchen.*Home Delivered Meals - Hot lunch delivered daily by volunteers to home-bound elderly and frozen meals available for holidays.
Activities:Activities include physical, mental, intellectual, creative classes/meeting lectures including the following:*Cards/Games - Poker, bridge, party bridge, other card games, Mah Jong board games and jigsaw puzzles.*Creative Arts/Hand Crafts - Needle crafts, sewing, crocheting, knitting, quilting and watercolor painting.*Physical - Feeling fit exercise, Tai Chi, yoga, line dancing and walking.*Group Meetings - PACE TV, SD Knit and Crochet Guild, Weight loss and Whats Your Opinion.*Social Services Offers donation-based, low to no cost nutritious lunches to seniors 60 and above.*Social Events - Bingo, fundraising, blood drives, volunteerism, monthly and seasonal lectures on financial, legal, medical, health, defensive driving, current events discussions and genealogy.
Senior ServicesSenior services include:Health screening and services as follows:* Medical - Screening, blood pressure checkup and hearing checks.* Therapeutic - Grief counseling and Stepping Out (for widows, widowers).Legal, tax and financial services as follows:* Government - HICAP Assistance.* Legal - AARP tax assistance, homeowner tax form assistance and legal assistance.
