Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission of United Way of the Inland Valleys is to unite people, ideas,and resources with our community to improve lives. United Way fights forthe education, financial stability, and housing of every person in ourcommunity. UWIV accomplishes this mission through administering localprograms and initiatives that align with our primary objective of improvinglives and fighting for education, financial stability, and housing.Additionally, UWIV grants money to local agencies which align with ourprimary focus areas.
The United Way of the Inland Valleys ("UWIV") was organized under the lawsof the State of California as a nonprofit public benefit corporation inRiverside, California, in 1931. UWIV works in partnership with localleaders, businesses, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, andindividuals to unite people, ideas, and resources to improve lives. UWIVfights for education, financial stability, and housing for every person inour Western Riverside County. This mission is accomplished by administeringlocal programs and initiatives through funds raised in the community-widecampaign. Additionally, UWIV facilitates and distributes funds to localnonprofit organizations based on local needs identified by volunteers andcommunity members. UWIVs activities are carried out through the efforts ofapproximately 2,500 volunteers each year, including company campaigncoordinators and donors who have been invited to help make funding decision.
Disaster Relief:UNITED WAY OF THE INLAND VALLEYS ACTIVATED THE INLAND SOCAL COVID FUND IN MARCH 2020 WITH THE PURPOSE OF RAISING FUNDS FOR DIRECT NEEDS OF RESIDENTS AND NON PROFIT AGENICES IMPACTED BY THE PANDEMIC. FUNDS RECEIVED WERE DISTRIBUTED TO APPLICANTS IN $500 CASH GRANTS TO SUPPORT HOUSEHOLD NEEDS DURING THE PANDEMIC. ADDITIONALLY, FUNDS RECEIVED SUPPORTED NON-PROFIT AGENCIES THAT WERE IMPACTED BY THE PANDEMIC. AGENCIES THAT APPLIED WERE VETTED AND RECEIVED ONE TIME GRANTS TO ASSIST WITH KEEPING THEIR AGENCY OPERATIONAL DURING THE BEGINNING STAGES OF THE PANDEMIC.
NON PROFIT AGENCY ALLOCATIONS: UNITED WAY OF THE INLAND VALLEYS PROVIDES NON PROFIT AGENCY GRANTS CALLED ALLOCATIONS OUT OF THE POOL OF UNRESTRICTED CONTRIBUTIONS RECEIVED. UWIV SETS PRIORITIES FOR FUNDING IN THE AREAS OF EDUCATION, FINANCIAL STABILITY, AND HEALTH AND CREATES A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR AGENCIES SERVING WESTERN RIVERSIDE COUNTY. APPLICATIONS RECEIVED FROM LOCAL NON PROFIT AGENCIES ARE VETTED BY STAFF AND THEN BY VOLUNTEERS FROM THE COMMUNITY. APPLICATION REVIEWS ARE THEN SENT TO THE COMMUNITY IMPACT COMMITTEE TO MAKE FUNDING RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE BOARD. THESE RECOMMENDATIONS ARE PRESENTED TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS WHO MAKE FINAL FUNDING DECISIONS. ALLOCATIONS ARE PAID ON A MONTHLY BASIS FOR A PERIOD OF 12 MONTHS.
Donor Designations:As a convenience to our donors, the organization facilitates direct,unrestricted contributions to other agencies. The organization does notrequire the recipient organizations to provide information relative to theuse results of these contributions.
