OPERATION SCHOOL BELLThrough this program, new school clothing is provided to low income, at-risk elementary school students in the Coachella Valley. School administrators and teachers identify students in need of school clothing. Providing clothing to these students strengthens self-esteem, promotes school attendance, reduces teasing and bullying, and inspires scholastic achievement. This year clothing was provided to 3,691 elementary students attending 38 schools.In addition to the clothing program, school supplies were distributed to 400 families enrolling kindergartners in low income areas.Purchased 3,367 hygiene kits to be distributed to homeless students and other disadvantaged students who do not have access to hygiene supplies.
ASSISTANCE LEAGUE FRANK MOSS SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE ARTSThrough this program funding is awarded to high school students of limited financial means to enable them to pursue their study of the arts, thereby helping students to excel in their chosen art field and better preparing them to thrive in the future. Funding is awarded based on passion for and desire to study the arts as well as financial need and academic performance. This year 16 talented high school students were provided with funding for private music lessons and purchase of computer equipment so they can pursue their love of the arts while in high school.
ASSISTANCE LEAGUE SENIOR SERVICESThrough this program 871 nursing home residents benefited from this program, enjoying sponsored musical entertainment, companionship, and holiday gifts. Special needs of lowincome residents are addressed by providing incidentals such as clothing, footwear, and lap blankets.
