Content creation and sharing. OneStepHope has begun to change the conversation around recovery and mental health through storytelling. In the final eight months of 2017, the OneStepHope team created and published 4 short films capturing stories of recovery. An additional 8 short films (4 - 5 min. apiece) have been commissioned, and are in various stages of the process. Capturing these stories involves a significant amount of work and labor. In its role as a film producer, the OneStepHope team achieved the following in 2017 to support its storytelling work: (1) finalized contracts with four filmmakers across the U.S. to capture stories (2) conducted fifteen in-depth interviews conducted with potential film subjects (3) organized four separate filming dates, including location planning and approval (4) spent ten to twenty hours per film on story and film editing (5) developed short "trailer" versions of the story. OneStepHope films were shared via social media -- www.facebook.com/onestephope -- and amassed over 30,000 views in total. One of the unexpected highlights of this process has been how individuals that we've partnered with to tell their stories have experienced greater healing, purpose, and joy through sharing their stories. Recounting their process, and their growth, and seeing the hope in that, has blessed many, and allowed several to share more broadly with their own communities.
