To inspire all students to engage in science by empowering teachers.
Through teacher professional development and portable science laboratories, BABEC helps students develop an interest in science, consider science as a career, and become scientifically literate citizens. We serve 250 teachers and 30,000 students per year.
We are a 24-year old program that provides portable science laboratories (equipment and supplies) to high schools. Last year we served 215 teachers, and 24,000 students. We provided 797 hands-on science kits to 91 schools, which included 893 hours of in-person teacher training and support. We provide laboratory training and support to teachers, and we increase access and equity in science education through material and in-person support. 28% of the schools we serve a classified as Title 1.
