Organizations Filed Purposes: Learning Home Volunteers' (LHV) mission is to ensure that all children, regardless of their economic situation, enter kindergarten prepared. LHV operates exclusively in SF Bay Area, working with low income families and their children ages 2-5. In 2019, our first year of business, we were laser focused on recruitment and launch of our first cohort of children. The most exciting achievement is the high level of engagement of the families. We see growth, not only in the children's abilities, but the families' ability to create learning opportunities for their children with ease. We are impressed and joyous to see these transformations. Fostered by these achievements, we are increasing our enrollment and impact to under-served families.

Learning Home Volunteers' mission is to ensure that all children, regardless of their economic circumstances, enter kindergarten prepared.

Develop and prepare learning resources for learning sessions: All learning activities are developed in house and are designed to support a wide range of developmental levels. We strive to keep them as open-ended as possible to allow the child freedom to explore the aspects of interest to them. Activities are shared among the participants to keep expenses low. However, learning sessions are held throughout the year and use 3-4 activities per session which works out to be ~156 activities per child per year. So as our enrollment grows, so must the number of learning activities in our library.

Train and support community volunteers and parents to foster learning in a child-directed play program: Each parent and community volunteer is trained on the adult's role in child-directed play. Training includes both online training and in-person training. Each adult is provided with basic teaching materials which support the mastery of numeracy, letter recognition, color recognition and shape recognition. Ongoing training is provided through Classtag and informal single subject drop-in sessions.

Support literacy through the building of the child's home library: Such a huge part of child's development ages 2 - 5 is language acquisition and one of the best tools for exploring the world of words and the world itself is reading. We provide a core set of books for all of our participants and then provide 2 books each month to add to their library through out the program. Parents use these books to read to their children nightly.
