Organizations Filed Purposes: TO MAINTAIN A SOCIAL SETTLEMENT IN WHICH THE RESIDENTS AND OTHER WORKERS SHALL SEEK TO PERFORM THE SERVICES OF A GOOD NEIGHBOR TO THE PEOPLE OF THE DISTRICT AND ESPECIALLY TO PROMOTE THE WELFARE OF ALL IN EDUCATIONAL GUIDANCE, MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AND DIRECTED RECREATION. TO UNDERSTAND ALL GROUPS, TO INTERPRET THEIR NEEDS TO THE COMMUNITY, TO CONTRIBUTE TO AN APPRECIATION OF THEIR CULTURE TO DEVELOP INDEPENDENCE AND LEADERSHIP AND TO ASSIST IN DEVELOPING GOOD CITIZENS FOR THE COMMUNITY.

TO DEVELOP A SELF SUFFICIENT AND COLLABORATIVE COMMUNITY BASED ON FAMILY WELLNESS, EDUCATION, CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, CULTURAL AWARENESS, AND COMMUNITY CAPACITY BUILDING.

INCREASING CONSUMER AWARENESS THROUGH RESPONSIBILITY AND EDUCATION (I.C.A.R.E.): THE DUI PROGRAM IS A STATE-LICENSED DRINKING DRIVERS PROGRAM PROVIDED THROUGH CSA'S CONTRACT WITH RIVERSIDE UNIVERSITY HEALTH SYSTEM - BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, PROVIDING COURT-MANDATED INDIVIDUAL AND INTERACTIVE GROUP COUNSELING SESSIONS, PROMOTING SOBRIETY AND RESPONSIBLE DRIVING. IN 2019, 312 PARTICIPANTS ENROLLED IN THESE PROGRAMS. THE DUI PROGRAM HELPS BRING STABILITY, SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND POSITIVE CHANGES THROUGH EDUCATING ON THE CONSEQUENCES OF DUI. THIS PROGRAM EDUCATES, MOTIVATES, AND INCREASES AWARENESS OF THE BENEFITS OF SOBRIETY IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE LIFESTYLE OF PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS.

BETTERING EVERY STUDENT FOR TOMORROW (B.E.S.T.): AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS FROM K8TH GRADE PROVIDING FREE TUTORING, CHARACTER BUILDING ACTIVITIES, FUN AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES, AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES. STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM ACADEMIC SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND SOCIAL LEARNING. THROUGH OUR B.E.S.T. PROGRAM, STUDENTS ARE ABLE TO IMPROVE THEIR READING LEVELS, MATH SKILLS, AND RECEIVE EXPOSURE TO SCIENCE AND ARTS PROJECTS. THESE OPPORTUNITIES ARE NOT ALWAYS AVAILABLE TO CHILDREN IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES. IN ADDITION, OUR SUMMER PROGRAM ALLOWS STUDENTS TO MAINTAIN THEIR CURRENT READING LEVEL OVER THE SUMMER IN PREPARATION FOR THE FALL. THIS PROGRAM SERVES 145 STUDENTS ANNUALLY.

FOOD PANTRY PROGRAM: DESIGNED TO PROVIDE GROCERIES TO FAMILIES TWO DAYS A WEEK. IN 2019, CSA PROVIDED APPROXIMATELY 150 PRE-PACKAGED FOOD BAGS EACH WEEK (APPROXIMATELY 8,200 PRE-PACKAGED FOOD BAGS ANNUALLY) EQUATING TO 47,000 MEALS. CSA OFFERS COOKING AND NON-COOKING FOOD BAG OPTIONS AS WELL AS A VEGETARIAN AND VEGAN OPTIONS FOR OUR CLIENTS. THE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO HELP MITIGATE THE GROWING FOOD INSECURITY IN THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE. UNHEALTHY FOOD CHOICES AND LOW INCOME ARE AMONG THE SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH THAT, OVER TIME, INCREASE THE RISK OF CHRONIC DISEASE. THE PROGRAM HELPS TO ADDRESS THESE RISK FACTORS BY PROVIDING HEALTHY FOOD OPTIONS TO MITIGATE THE EFFECTS OF ECONOMIC STRESSORS THAT ARE OFTEN PLACED UPON LOW INCOME FAMILIES.
