RIVERSIDE ART MUSEUM'S MISSION IS "TO INTEGRATE ART INTO THE LIVES OF PEOPLE IN A WAY THAT ENGAGES, INSPIRES, AND BUILDS COMMUNITY BY PRESENTING HIGH QUALITY EXHIBITIONS AND ARTS CLASSES THAT INSTILL A LIFELONG LOVE OF THE ARTS." AS ONE OF THE OLDEST AND MOST VIBRANT INSTITUTIONS IN THE INLAND SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA REGION, RAM STRIVES TO BE A DISTINGUISHED, YET ACCESSIBLE INSTITUTION THAT SERVES AS A CULTURAL, COLLABORATIVE AND EDUCATIONAL FOCAL POINT FOR OUR DIVERSE, MULTI-ETHNIC COMMUNITY. TODAY OUR MISSION REACHES BEYOND THE EXHIBITION SPACES WITHIN OUR WALLS, AS WE CONTRIBUTE TO THE FUTURE OF OUR REGION THROUGH CREATIVE PLACE MAKING ACTIVITIES, BY PROVIDING EXTENSIVE YOUTH AND ADULT ART EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES, BY OUTREACHING TO FAMILIES AND AT-RISK POPULATIONS, AND BY COLLABORATING WITH GOVERNMENT, CORPORATE, AND PRIVATE ENTITIES TO IDENTIFY AND MEET THE CULTURAL NEEDS OF THE AREA.
MUSEUM THAT COLLECTS ART AND PRODUCES ART EXHIBITIONS AND ART EDUCATION PROGRAMS
RAM PRESENTS APPROXIMATELY 20 EXHIBITS ANNUALLY TO ENGAGE OUR DIVERSE, MULTI-ETHNIC COMMUNITY. ONE OF THE MUSEUM'S MOST IMPORTANT GOALS IS "TO BUILD ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY AND COMMITMENT TO AUTHENTICALLY ENGAGE THE DIVERSE RESIDENTS OF INLAND SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA THROUGH MEANINGFUL ARTS CURATION, CREATION, DIALOGUE AND PARTICIPATION RELEVANT TO THEIR DISTINCT AND SHARED EXPERIENCES." WE SUPPORT OUR LOCAL ARTIST COMMUNITY THROUGH EXHIBITS AND EVENTS, ANDVIA OUR ASSOCIATION WITH THE ART ALLIANCE, PNET (PRINTMAKERS NETWORK), PAAR (PLEIN AIR ARTISTS OF RIVERSIDE) AND PAN (PHOTO ARTISTS NETWORK). ADDITIONAL EXHIBITIONS EXPLORE OUR "SURVEY" STYLE PERMANENT COLLECTION,WORK BY OTHER NOTEWORTHY ARTISTS, PARTICULARLY FROM CALIFORNIA, AND THE BEST WORK FROM EMERGING STUDENTS ARTISTS - FROM MIDDLE SCHOOL TO GRADUATE STUDENTS.OUR COMMUNITY OUTREACH INCLUDES PARTICIPATION IN RIVERSIDE'S ART WALK AND FIRST SUNDAY PROGRAMMING, WHICH OFFERS FREE ADMISSION AND ACTIVTIES FOR ALL. RAM IS A BLUE STAR MUSEUM THAT OFFERS FREE ADMISSION TO THE NATION'S ACTIVE-DUTY MILITARY PERSONNEL AND THEIR FAMILIES, INCLUDING NATIONAL GUARD AND RESERVE, FROM MEMORIAL DAY THROUGH LABOR DAY. RAM IS PART OF THE MUSEUMS FOR ALL, A COOPERATIVE INITIATIVE BETWEEN THE ASSOCIATION OF CHILDREN'S MUSEUMS AND THE INSTITUTE OF MUSEUM AND LIBRARY SCIENCES TO OFFER A SIGNATURE ACCESS PROVIDES REDUCED ADMISSIONS WITH AN EBT CARD. RAM ALSO GIVES FREE ADMISSION TO COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATE VOLUNTEERS AND CASE CHILDREN.MUSEUM GUIDES ARE AVAILABLE SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS, 1 P.M. - 2:30 P.M., AND FIRST THURSDAYS, 6:30 P.M. - 8 P.M., TO GIVE YOU TOURS OF OUR HISTORIC BUILDING, AND OUR EXHIBITS.NOTEWORTHY IN 2019, RAM'S ART ALLIANCE GROUP ORGANIZED IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE'S PARKS, RECREATION, AND COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE RIVERSIDE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT (RUSD), ART BARK IN THE PARK A SIGNATURE FREE COMMUNITY ART EVENT THAT INVOLVED 130 HAND-ADORNED METAL DOG SILHOUETTES.
YOUTH: "RAM'S ART-TO-GO BRINGS CURRICULUM-BASED ART LESSONS TO SCHOOL CLASSROOMS, PROVIDING LOCAL ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS A LOW-COST OPTION TO MEETING STATE-MANDATED VISUAL AND PERFORMING ART STANDARDS. RAM WAS CONTRACTED BY RIVERSIDE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT TO PROVIDE ART LESSONS (ART-TO-GO PROGRAM) TO K-6TH GRADE STUDENTS AT 30 DISTRICT SCHOOLS. RAM ALSO PROVIDES ART-TO-GO LESSONS AT OTHER LOCAL SCHOOLS IN MORENO VALLEY, ROMOLAND, COLTON, FONTANA, ALVORD, SAN BERNARDINO, ETC. WALK & WONDER TOURS BRING STUDENTS TO THE MUSEUM TO EXPLORE ITS ARCHITECTURE, VIEW EXHIBITS, AND COMPLETE ART PROJECTS. CREATIVE HORIZONS FOR JUSTICE-INVOLVED YOUTH PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR ART EDUCATION & COLLABORATIVE MURAL PRODUCTION AT DETENTION CENTERS, AT THE MUSEUM, OR IN THE COMMUNITY. YOUTH ART CLASSES AND SUMMER PROGRAMS PROVIDE MUSEUM-BASED EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHILDREN AGED 3 - 18,FOCUSING ON A VARIETY OF ARTISTIC FIELDS INCLUDING PAINTING, DRAWING, MIXED MEDIA, SCULPTURE AND ARCHITECTURE. IN ADDITION TO NUMEROUS FAMILIES, CLUBS AND INDIVIDUALS, CHARTER AND HOME SCHOOLS ALSO UTILIZED THIS PROGRAM. RAM HAS SCHOLARSHIP FUNDING AVAILABLE THROUGH A SMALLENDOWMENT, SUPPORT FROM INDIVIDUALS, AND THROUGH THE ART ALLIANCE.ADULT EDUCATION - CLASSES & WORKSHOPS FEATURING ACCLAIMED INSTRUCTORS SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONAL ARTISTS; OTHER PROGRAMS FOSTER SOCIAL SUPPORT FOR ARTISTS AND ENCOURAGE INDIVIDUALS TO USE THEIR CREATIVITY TO BUILD BUSINESSES. THE 52 PROJECT INVITES RESIDENTS TO JOIN ASELF-DIRECTED, GROUP-ENCOURAGED, YEAR-LONG EXPLORATION AND COMMITMENT TO INDIVIDUAL CREATIVITY. PARTICIPANTS HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO PRESENT POP -UP MUSEUM EXHIBITS OR PARTICIPATE IN A GROUP SHOW. THE MUSEUM'S OFF-SITE WORK COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT WORK IS FOCUSED IN RIVERSIDE'S EASTSIDE NEIGHBORHOOD WITH STAFF JOINING GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATIONS & COMMITTEES & BRINGING ART-MAKING TO NEIGHBORHOOD HAPPENINGS (CHURCH FESTIVALS, LAS POSADAS, NATIONAL NIGHT OUT EVENTS, SCHOOL WALKS, COMMUNITY CENTER EVENTS ETC.). IN 2018-2019 RAM ALSO PRESENTED AN ARTIST IN RESIDENECY IN RIVERSIDE'S EASTSIDE NEIGHBORHOOD; AN ARTIST WORKED WITH RESIDENTS TO CREATE COMMUNNITY MURAL PROJECTS.RAM'S ART ALLIANCE GROUP PRESENTED THE 6TH ANNUAL RIVERSIDE ART MARKET IN APRIL 2019, WHICH FEATURED OVER 100 ARTISAN VENDORS AND THOUSANDS OF VISITORS.
