Organizations Filed Purposes: TO ADVANCE STATEWIDE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES THROUGH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS, STRONG ADVOCACY EFFORTS AND BY PROVIDING RESOURCES IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITIES THROUGH A NETWORK OF COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS DEDICATED TO PROVIDING SERVICES AND PROGRAMS THAT HELP OUR ASIAN PACIFIC ISLANDER COMMUNITY THRIVE.

TO GROW AND EMPOWER THE ASIAN PACIFIC ISLANDER BUSINESS COMMUNITY THROUGHOUT CALIFORNIA THROUGH ACCESS, EDUCATION AND OPPORTUNITY.

DURING 2018, THE CHAMBER CONTINUED ITS BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, A TWO-PHASE PROGRAM DESIGNED TO PROVIDE TRAINING AND ASSISTANCE TO SMALL BUSINESS IN EXPANDING THEIR CAPACITY TO ASSUME GREATER LEVELS OF CONTRACTING RESPONSIBILITY, MOVE INTO NON-TRADITIONAL AREAS OF WORK, COMPETE FOR CONTRACT OPPORTUNITIES, AND GROW THEIR BUSINESSES IN THE PROCESS. ADDITIONALLY, THE CHAMBER CONTINUED TO RUN ITS CONTRACT READINESS PROGRAM TO HELP PREPARE SMALL TO MEDIUM SIZED BUSINESSES FOR GOVERNMENT, NONPROFIT, AND PRIVATE CORPORATION PROCUREMENT AND CONTRACTING ACITIVITIES.

THE CHAMBER HOSTED A HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL LEGISLATIVE RECEPTION THAT BROUGHT TOGETHER STATEWIDE COMMUNITY LEADERS, SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS AND BOTH SIDES OF THE LEGISLATORS TO WORK TOGETHER TO PROMOTE A MORE BUSINESS-FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT IN THE STATE AND PROMOTE JOBS IN CALIFORNIA. THE RECEPTION PROVIDED EXCELLENT NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES FOR SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS,A RARE OPPORTUNITY FOR OWNERS TO DIRECTLY INTERFACE WITH THEIR GOVERNMENT LEADERS, AND AN OPPORTUNITY TO CELEBRATE THE ASIAN PACIFIC ISLANDER APPOINTEES IN CALIFORNIA. IN ADDITION, THE CHAMBER HOSTED A DINNER TO ALLOW BUSINESS LEADERS TO MEET WITH MEMBERS OF THE API LEGISLATIVE CAUCUS.

IN 2018, THE CHAMBER CONTINUED ITS WORK ON TWO GRANTS FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE. UNDER THE KOREA DIRECT PROGRAM, THE CHAMBER HELPED ASSIST AND FACILITATE CALIFORNIA FIRMS TO EXPORT TO KOREA AND OTHER PARTS OF ASIA. WITH THE MBDA EXPORT CENTER, THE CHAMBER PROVIDED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SERVICES TO COMPANIES TO GENERATE INCREASED FINANCING, CONTRACT OPPORTUNITIES, AND GREATER ACCESS TO NEW AND GLOBAL MARKETS FOR MINORITY BUSINESS ENTERPRISES (MBES). THE CHAMBER AWARDED TWO SEPARATE CONTRACTS BY THE STATE OF CALFIORNIA'S GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (GO-BIZ) UNDER THE SB-TAP AND SB-TAEP PROGRAMS TO HELP EXPAND THE SCOPE OF SERVICES OFFERED BY THE CHAMBER'S MDCP AND MBDA CENTERS.
