Research and Development Institute for MORE (Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment & Equity)Completed sixty percent of a mini-documentary film series on the impacts of marijuana criminalization and racialized law enforcement. The series is linked to a dissemination strategy for two reports: 1) a Public Health Advocates, UC Davis Center for Regional Change and UCLA study to map marijuana arrests in the state, and 2) the California Cannabis Tax Revenues report by Youth Forward and the Public Health Institute. A total of 26 interview subjects from Sacramento, Central Valley, East Oakland/Richmond and South Los Angeles were filmed to feature the voices of Drug War impacted children, families and ex-offenders, with perspectives of elected and grassroots community leaders. A 5-minute preview containing mapping study illustrations and references - was produced.

Stakeholder Engagement Institute for MORE (Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment & Equity)Supported initial engagement of 88 organizations, with the goal of involving community based and grassroots organizations in local and state conversations about the usage of marijuana revenues for advancing racial and health equity. Engaged the Governors Office of Business and Economic Development early on to inform implementation of the Community Reinvestment Grants program. Focused on helping over 100 local organizing groups that predominantly serve Black, Brown, and Native communities shape quality of Californias support for nonprofits and local health departments in providing job placement, mental health treatment, reentry and economic development services to youth and adults affected by the Drug War.

Capacity Building Institute for MORE (Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment & Equity)Raised awareness by visiting community-based and grassroots organizations statewide regarding opportunities to apply for $10 million in Community Reinvestment Grants program funds, which will grow to $50 million by 2023 and remain at that funding level each year thereafter. All the Prop-64 funded organizations are working in communities of color impacted by criminalization.
