INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS MENTOR STUDENT TEAMS IN A TWELVE-WEEK COMPETITION TO ANSWER A REAL-WORLD PROBLEM. STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN ARCHITECTURE, ENGINEERING, AND THE CONSTRUCTION TRADES, VISIT LOCAL ARCHITECTURE AND ENGINEERING OFFICES, VISIT ACTIVE CONSTRUCTION JOB SITES, ATTEND TRADES DAY AND COMPETE WITH OTHER REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOLS IN FRONT OF INDUSTRY JUDGES. SUMMER CAMP IS A SIX-DAY, FIVE-NIGHT PROGRAM THAT INTRODUCES STUDENTS FROM AROUND CALIFORNIA TO CAREERS IN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT. STUDENTS DESIGN AND BUILD PROJECT FOR A LOCAL NONPROFIT, COMPLETE A NEEDS ASSESSMENT, MEET INDUSTRY EXECUTIVES, TOUR ACTIVE JOB SITES, EXPLORE SACRAMENTO AND STAY ON A COLLEGE CAMPUS.

Design Build Competition (Virtual in 2020 due to impacts of COVID-19 restrictions): Students completed online OSHA 10 Training, submitted a resume, completed a cost estimate which was completed from plans accessed an online planroom, built a physical model, and submitted a video in which they presented answers to a series of questions and showed their physical model.

SCHOLARHIPS ARE AWARDED FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PURSUING CAREERS IN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT, TO FAMILY MEMBERS OR SRBX MEMBERS PURSUING CAREERS IN ANY FIELD, AND TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO PURSUE SUMMER CAREER EXPLORATION CAMPS AND ACTIVITIES.
