Providing music opportunities for disadvantaged youth
Converted from classroom to online format in response to Covid. During 2020 Department of Sound was able to move its platform from a classroom setting to an online platform that made it accessible not only to existing students, but to a wider range of youth.
In the city and unincorporated areas of Sacramento, California, monies available from the CARES Act were utilized to enhance music education in the context of socially-distanced learning and expand access and exposure to music production in underserved communities.
The Producer's Academy which is an intensive 8 weeks course was scheduled to be delivered to 300 students in person. However, due to Covid, these funds were utilized to convert the course to an online course that is slated to begin during eh second quarter of 2021.
