Organizations Filed Purposes: FBF'S MISSION IS TO FURTHER SOCIAL WELFARE BY SUPPORTING POLICIES, LAWS, AND INSTITUTIONAL REFORM THAT FOSTER A STRONGER RESPONSIVENESS TO THE PRIORITIES OF THE MODERN SOCIETY, INCLUDING THE PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT, PROMOTION OF HEALTH, AND THE ADVANCEMENT OF EQUAL RIGHTS.

DURING 2016, THE FUND FOR A BETTER FUTURE INC. (FBF) INITIATED EFFORTS TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT, ENSURE HEALTHY COMMUNITIES, AND ADVANCE EQUAL RIGHTS.FBF ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING 2016 INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING:SUPPORTED EFFORTS IN THE WEST TO ENSURE THAT EXISTING, BEDROCK ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS REMAIN IN FORCE; KEY CONSERVATION AND ENERGY-RELATED REGULATIONS ARE PROTECTED; AND THE DIALOGUE AROUND PUBLIC LANDS PIVOTS TOWARD THE IMPORTANT VALUE OF THESE LANDS FOR ALL AMERICANS AND FUTURE GENERATIONS. ITS PROGRAM STAFF PROVIDED INSIGHT AND GUIDANCE TO PARTNERS SUCH AS THE WESTERN CONSERVATION FOUNDATION AND THE CENTER FOR AMERICAN PROGRESS, AND MADE GRANTS TO A VARIETY OF RELIGIOUS, VETERAN, CONSERVATIVE, AND OTHER PARTNERS TO PROVIDE TO DECISION MAKERS AND THE PUBLIC PERSPECTIVE AND INFORMATION FROM DIVERSE AND EVOCATIVE CONSERVATION VOICES, IN SUPPORT OF PROTECTING AMERICA'S PUBLIC LANDS HERITAGE. KEY ACTIVITIES FOCUSED ON STRATEGIC EFFORTS TO EDUCATE SENATE AND HOUSE CHAMPIONS, WITH SPECIAL FOCUS ON LEADERSHIP MEMBERS AND IMPORTANT MODERATE CONGRESSIONAL VOICES. THIS WORK HELPED DRIVE INCREMENTAL BUT IMPORTANT GROWTH OF A SOLID BASE OF SUPPORT IN THE CONGRESS FOR PROTECTING AMERICA'S PUBLIC LANDS AND THE NATION'S FOUNDATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS LAWS.FBF ALSO TOOK ON SEVERAL PROJECTS UNDER ITS HEALTHY COMMUNITIES FOCUS. FBF HELPED ACHIEVE SIGNIFICANT OUTCOMES, INCLUDING PASSAGE OF CALIFORNIA STATEWIDE PROPOSITION 67 TO MAINTAIN THE STATEWIDE BAN ON PLASTIC BAGS, THE FIRST SUCH BAN IN THE COUNTRY. SIMILARLY, FBF'S SUPPORT AIDED THE PASSAGE OF MEASURE A AND MEASURE M IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY, WHICH WILL BE TRANSFORMATIVE FOR PARKS, TRANSPORTATION, LAND USE AND UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES IN THE STATE'S MOST POPULATED URBAN CENTER AND IN WAYS THAT INFLUENCE DIRECTIONS THROUGHOUT THE STATE AND EVEN THE COUNTRY. FINALLY, IN SUPPORT OF ITS MISSION, FBF PROVIDED GENERAL SUPPORT GRANTS TO THE LEAGUE OF CONSERVATION VOTERS, INC. AND TO THE CENTER FOR AMERICAN PROGRESS ACTION FUND.
