Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE MISSION OF HCC IS TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO CARE AND TREATMENT OPTIONS IN ORDER TO ADVANCE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR PEOPLE WITH BLEEDING DISORDERS THROUGH ADVOCACY, EDUCATION, AND OUTREACH IN THE COLLABORATION WITH ITS FOUNDING MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS.
Legislative Advocacy includes all activities intended to influence legislation and the decisions of legislators.
Healthcare Access & Public Policy Education includes: 1) Bi-monthly webinars on accessing insurance, patient healthcare advocacy, patient assistance programs, and public policy affecting people with bleeding disorders. 2) Regional educational presentations on public policy, healthcare access, and patient self-advocacy. 3) Creation of fact sheets and other educational materials on healthcare access, advocacy skills, government education, and healthcare policies. 4) Monitoring of legislation, policies of health-related government agencies, and activities of HCC's founding organizations so that timely bulletins on current events can be created and sent to the bleeding disorders community.
FUTURE LEADERS - EACH YEAR YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN AGES 14-22 COME TOGEHTER FROM ALL OVER CALIFORNIA TO SACRAMENTO FOR A UNIQUE LEARNING EXPERIENCE: LEARN ABOUT HOW CALIFORNIA GOVERNMENT WORKS AND THE PROGRAMS THAT SUPPORT PEOPLE WITH BLEEDING DISORDERS THROUGOUT THE STATE; LEARN HOW TO TELL THEIR STORY TO LEGISLATORS ABOUT LIVING WITH A BLEEDING DISORDER; LEARN HOW TO BE AN ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF AND OTHERS; LEARN ABOUT CAREER CHOICES AND CHALLENGES FOR PEOPLE WITH BLEEDING DISORDERS; Meet other young people from across the state who want their voices heard.
