Organizations Filed Purposes: FOR OVER 35 YEARS, THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMMISSION (LGC) HAS CONNECTED CUTTING-EDGE LEADERS FROM ACROSS THE NATION. TOGETHER WE ARE ADVANCING TRANSFORMATIVE POLICIES AND IMPLEMENTING INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES. LGC WORKS TO BUILD LIVABLE COMMUNITIES AND LOCAL LEADERSHIP BY CONNECTING LEADERS VIA INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS AND NETWORK OPPORTUNITIES, ADVANCING POLICIES THROUGH PARTICIPATION AT THE LOCAL AND STATE LEVEL, AND IMPLEMENTING SOLUTIONS AS A TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROVIDER AND ADVISOR TO LOCAL JURISDICTIONS. WITH ROOTS IN CALIFORNIA AND A NATIONAL REPUTATION, LGC OFFERS INSPIRATION, INFORMATION, AND PARTNERSHIP FOR LOCAL AND REGIONAL CHAMPIONS DEDICATED TO BUILDING THRIVING COMMUNITIES THAT INTEGRATE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT WITH ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL, AND ECONOMIC PRIORITIES.

FOSTERING INNOVATION IN ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY, ECONOMIC PROSPERITY AND SOCIAL EQUITY.

HEALTHY COMMUNITIES & COMMUNITY DESIGN:IN 2019, LGC'S COMMUNITY DESIGN TEAM PARTNERED WITH 16 JURISDICTIONS TO PLAN AND EQUITABLY IMPLEMENT HEALTHY, SUSTAINABLE, AND PROSPEROUS COMMUNITY DESIGN. THE COMMUNITY DESIGN TEAM ALSO PROVIDED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES IN RICHMOND AND OAKLAND ON BEHALF OF THE STRATEGIC GROWTH COUNCIL TO HELP THEM GET GRANTS AROUND AFFORDABLE HOUSING, TRANSPORTATION,URBAN GREENING, AND OTHER REVITALIZATION INITIATIVES.THE TEAM ALSO PROVIDED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE STATE TO HELP THEM ACCESS RESOURCES AND FUNDING FOR CLEAN VEHICLES AND SHARED MOBILITY SERVICES.

CLIMATE CHANGE:IN 2019, LGC'S CLIMATE TEAM SUPPORTED NUMEROUS LOCAL, REGIONAL AND STATEWIDE CLIMATE CHANGE EFFORTS THROUGH THE ALLIANCE OF REGIONAL COLLABORATIVES FOR CLIMATE ADAPTATION (ARCCA), THE CAPITAL REGION CLIMATE READINESS COLLABORATIVE (CRC), THE CAPITAL REGION URBAN HEAT ISLAND PROJECT, RESILIENT INLAND EMPIRE, AND THE MAYORS' COMMISSION ON CLIMATE CHANGE, ENGAGING WITH HUNDREDS OF JURISDICTIONS AND ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS CALIFORNIA. THESE PROGRAMS SUPPORTED A SERIES OF COORDINATION WORKSHOPS AND TRAININGS, TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEES, ENGAGEMENT WITH KEY STATE AND REGIONAL AGENCIES, RESEARCH ON CLIMATE RISKS AND SOLUTIONS, AND TARGETED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE.

ENERGY:IN 2019, LGC'S ENERGY TEAM HOSTED THE 10TH ANNUAL STATEWIDE ENERGY EFFICIENCY FORUM IN LONG BEACH, WHICH WAS ATTENDED BY OVER 330 ENERGY PROFESSIONALS AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT STAFF FROM ACROSS THE STATE. AS PART OF THE STATEWIDE ENERGY EFFICIENCY COLLABORATIVE (SEEC) PROGRAM, LGC PROVIDED RESOURCES, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES TO HELP LOCAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES REDUCE GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS AND ACCELERATE CLIMATE ACTION. LGC PROVIDED ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO LOCAL JURISDICTIONS THROUGH THE CLEAN POWER ALLIANCE SUSTAINABLE ENERGY INCUBATOR AND JOINED A TEAM OF NONPROFIT AND PRIVATE SECTOR PARTNERS TO LAUNCH EMPOWER PROCUREMENT, AN INITIATIVE FUNDED BY THE CALIFORNIA ENERGY COMMISSION TO STREAMLINE ADVANCED ENERGY PROCUREMENT PROCESSES FOR LOCAL JURISDICTIONS. LGC ALSO CONDUCTED RESEARCH AND POLICY ANALYSIS TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF A COMMUNITY ENERGY ACTION PLAN FOR LOW-INCOME NEIGHBORHOODS IN THE CITY OF FRESNO. LGC STAFF ALSO WORKED WITH THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT SUSTAINABLE ENERGY COALITION (LGSEC) TO ADVOCATE FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT ENERGY POLICY INTERESTS AT THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION (PUC) AND OTHER STATE AGENCIES AND PROVIDED MEMBERS WITH PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND NETWORKING RESOURCES.
