Organizations Filed Purposes: DRIVE RESEARCH TO MAXIMIZE PRODUCTIVITY, SUSTAINABILITY AND COMPETITIVENESS OF THE AMERICAN GRAPE INDUSTRIES.

THE NATIONAL GRAPE RESEARCH ALLIANCE (NGRA) SEEKS TO ADVANCE RESEARCH TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY AND COMPETITIVENESS OF THE AMERICAN GRAPE INDUSTRIES, INCLUDING WINE GRAPES, TABLE GRAPES, JUICE GRAPES AND RAISINS. NGRA-SUPPORTED RESEARCH PROJECTS INVOLVE MULTI-DISCIPLINARY, MULTI-INSTITUTIONAL, MULTI-STATE COLLABORATION, AND TARGET ISSUES THAT NO SINGLE GRAPE SECTOR COULD ADEQUATELY ADDRESS ON ITS OWN. OUR EFFORTS ARE FOCUSED IN FOUR THEME AREAS: 1) NATURAL RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENT, 2) INTEGRATED PRODUCTION SYSTEMS, 3) GENETICS AND GRAPEVINE IMPROVEMENT, AND 4) EXTENSION AND OUTREACH.

IN NOVEMBER 2019, NGRA HELD THE NGRA-ARS SENSOR TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOP IN SACRAMENTO, CA. IT WAS THE ORGANIZATION'S FIRST TICKETED EVENT, OPEN TO ALL GRAPE AND WINE STAKEHOLDERS. THE FULL-DAY AGENDA FEATURED 31 SPEAKERS, ATTRACTED 140 ATTENDEES, AND ADDRESSED THE STATE OF SENSOR TECHNOLOGY-PRESENT AND FUTURE-IN THE AREAS OF VINE HEALTH AND IRRIGATION, PESTS AND DISEASES, AND DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEMS. THE EVENT ALSO HIGHLIGHTED NGRA'S COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE USDA'S AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH SERVICE (ARS).

NATIONAL VITICULTURE AND ENOLOGY EXTENSION LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE (NVEELC) 2019: THIS ANNUAL GRASSROOTS EVENT GATHERS EXTENSION AND OUTREACH PROFESSIONALS FOR INDUSTRY-SPECIFIC PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, FOSTERING COLLABORATION AND DIALOGUE AND HELPING THEM STAY APPRISED OF INDUSTRY CHALLENGES ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND SHARE BEST-PRACTICES FOR ADDRESSING THEM. THE 2019 CONFERENCE WAS HOSTED IN APRIL BY TEXAS A&M AGRILIFE EXTENSION SERVICE AND TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY IN FREDERSICKSBURG, TX, WITH SUPPORT FROM NGRA.
