RAISE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR RESIDENTS IN SACRAMENTO
Sacramento ACT organizes to create a more just and fair community for everyone in the Sacramento region, with a particular focus on communities of color that have experienced historical discrimination and disinvestment. Our organizing is grounded in the conviction that equityjust and fair inclusion in societymust drive public policy.
Youth - Our youth work focuses on two areas. In Education, we work on bringing more Restorative Justice practices into schools and providing mental health support services to students. We work on bring the voices of ELL parents to the table to advocate for the needs of their students. In Juvenile Justice Reform work, we work with youth and system-impacted youth to develop leaders who advocate for reform of the juvenile justice system.
Immigration - Our leaders work to educate immigrant families about their rights and provide training related to raising their awareness of their rights.
Violence Prevention and Reinvestment - Our violence prevention advocates for transparency and accountability in policing, and for investment in prevention, re-entry and mental health and addiction treatment rather than incarceration. In 2018, our work included advocating for Advance Peace in the city of Sacramento.
