Transforming lives through evangelism, discipleship, and disease prevention.

Medical Ambassadors International made significant progress globally in 2019 to serve marginalized and help impoverished communities achieve significant improvements in their health, education, spiritual vitality, and economic development. This growth was facilitated by the addition of 82 new CHE (Community Health Evangelism) communities in 2019, bringing the total number of communities to 2,582. MAI's CHE program continues to empower and equip local leaders to address both physical and spiritual needs in the communities that they belong to. This integrated Holistic development or Integral Mission enables all around development, enabling people to develop and thrive. There is also consequent impact that results in reduction of disease, overall improvement of health and wellness, and a diffusion what we refer to as 'shalom' in the impacted communities. The uniqueness of this process is that it is community led and managed. In being the leaders of change, community members grow and develop their leadership skills, and become consultants to their community for catalyzing ongoing change and holistic transformation. This is the Modus Operandi of MAI's Training of Trainers (ToT) program, that believes and propagates community ownership and empowerment. It's this principle that was behind the launching, facilitation, and creation of a separate Non-Profit Organization called the Global CHE network. This collaborative network has since become a forum for sharing ideas that is not owned by any of the collaborating organizations. Members from 625 other NGOs and FBOs have now agreed to help each other implement CHE in their areas. Medical Ambassadors, along with these other organizations, have reached and impacted over eight thousand communities in well over 126 countries, impacting well over six million people. The exhaustive CHE curriculum has been augmented with updated lessons on disease diagnosis and treatment, water collection and purification, agriculture, animal husbandry, marketing, micro-enterprise, savings groups, ecology, literacy, marriage and family relationships, parenting skills, and local church leadership training. These lessons, over 8,000 of them, are available to all members of the CHE network who have partaken of the basic TOT training. As a result, at the local village or urban community level, well over 50,602 volunteer Community Health Evangelists/Educators have been trained by MAI directly and through the many partners. Reports suggest that many times this number of people are active in Bible study and Bible story-telling discussion groups. Practical application of what the Bible teaches is transforming the daily lives of thousands of families and transforming whole communities.90% of the impact of Medical Ambassadors is generated through the efforts of unpaid volunteers around the world, trained and encouraged by Medical Ambassadors paid staff. The contribution of Volunteers globally is enormous, and this has only been possible due to the unique model MAI has of being able to mobilize, motivate and train volunteers, who in turn train generations of other volunteers, making Holistic disciples who make Holistic disciples. Many organizations pay staff to deliver similar services of community development. MAI teaches people to make improvements in their own communities, as volunteers. In essence, we encourage them to become self-propagating multipliers. This allows their programs to be sustainable. MAI continues to look for ways to harness this impact and assess its impact; If we could find a way, we would be able to get a better picture of the 'real value of' these volunteer services in its calculation of overhead vs program expenses. In both 2017 and 2018, MAI was identified by ROIM (https://roiministry.org/) as being among the top 10 organizations in the world that have a high return on investment for the Kingdom of God.
