Organizations Filed Purposes: To inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold and to respect themselves and the world around them.Girls Incorporated of the Central Coast offers a constellation of programs that deliver innovative, multi-faceted activities designed to address the strengths and needs of girls and young women, preparing them for economic independence and confident adulthood. We encourage them to make smart choices regarding their academic futures, promote post-secondary education, provide them accurate information on health and sexuality, and equip them with the tools to avoid risky situations. We focus on leadership and self-empowerment through informal educational workshops conducted after school at high schools, middle and elementary schools. Programs assist with developing skills in decision-making, goal setting, facilitation, public speaking, program planning and academic pursuits. Our mission is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold, to respect themselves and the world around them.

ECHO Leadership Mentoring program: Encourage girls to pursue post-secondary education and plan for future careers. The sessions are designed to inspire girls to value themselves, reach for their dreams, develop an action plan to achieve goals, and see themselves as leaders. Served 281 high school girls at 9 high schools this year.Youth Leadership Program: Graduates of ECHO, who continue their leadership development by delivering programs to girls in middle and high schools in their home communities. Youth Leaders receive extensive training in decision-making, goal setting, facilitation, public speaking and program planning. Learn job-interviewing skills, how to read and present a curriculum to others, how to work as a member of a team and how to manage a group of 25-35 girls. Hired and trained 41 high school girls.

Friendly Peersuasion Phase 1: approach substance-abuse prevention as a peer issue, using positive influence of youth modeling healthy behavior. Topics include: healthy stress management, avoid tobacco and alcohol, responsible use of prescriptions, harmful impacts of bullying, standing up to bullying, resisting peer and media pressure, leadership development. Served 285 girls at 11 middle schools. Offered 5 virtual workshops and 3 virtual physical activity sessions focusing in managing stress, depression and anxiety during the pandemic. Friendly Peersuasion Phase 2: middle school girls, began working with Youth Leaders to improve public speaking skills, divide activities, prepare materials and practice teamwork. Through Phase 2, facilitators helped the younger girls improve communication skills, make healthier choices around stress management and friendships, and create atmosphere of support.

Will Power/Won't Power: is a series of interactive assertive communication workshops for girls ages 12-14. The program focuses on values and healthy relationships, helps girls identify and avoid risky situations, provides factual information on female health and the reproductive system, and encourages girls to value and support each other. Served 240 girls at 11 middle schools.
