IRT ALSO PROVIDED MORE THAN $113,000 IN CONSTRUCTION SUPPLIES AND CONSTRUCTION SERVICES FOR FAMILIES STRUGGLING TO RECOVER FROM THE DISASTER; (3) PUERTO RICO (HURRICANE MARIA RECOVERY) IRT PROVIDED MORE THAN $613,000 IN CONSTRUCTION SUPPLIES AND CONSTRUCTION SERVICES FOR IMPOVERISHED COMMUNITIES STRUGGLING TO RECOVER FROM THE HURRICANE; (4) PUERTO RICO (EARTHQUAKE) IRT PROVIDED MORE THAN $74,000 IN FOOD, HYGIENE AND OTHER RELIEF SUPPLIES TO EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS; (5) CALIFORNIA (FIRE RECOVERY) IRT DEPLOYED FOUR SKILLED CONSTRUCTION TEAM (59 VOLUNTEERS) WHO REPAIRED 10 HOMES OF FIRE VICTIMS WHO COULD NOT RECOVER ON THEIR OWN; (6) TEXAS (TROPICAL STORM IMELDA) IRT RUSHED MORE THAN $99,000 IN CLEANING MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION SUPPLIES TO HELP LOW-INCOME FAMILIES RECOVER FROM EXTENSIVE FLOODING; (7) LOUISIANA (HURRICANE HARVEY RECOVERY) IRT DEPLOYED ITS FINAL SKILLED CONSTRUCTION TEAM (14 VOLUNTEERS) WHO REPAIRED THE HOME OF A LOWINCOME HURRICANE VICTIM FAMILY (8) NEPAL (EARTHQUAKE RECOVERY) IRT PROVIDED MORE THAN $35,000 TO COMPLETE THE RECONSTRUCTION OF A BOARDING SCHOOL DESTROYED IN THE 2015 EARTHQUAKE; (9) LEBANON & SYRIA (REFUGEE RELIEF) IRT CONTINUED TO PROVIDE SYRIAN REFUGEE FAMILIES WITH SHELTER AND SANITATION, AS WELL AS MEDICINES AND MEDICAL SUPPLIES FOR HOSPITALS AND CLINICS SERVING DISPLACED SYRIAN FAMILIES; (10) CALIFORNIA (MIGRANT RELIEF) IRT PROVIDED 1,000 PERSONAL HYGIENE KITS TO MIGRANT FAMILIES AWAITING ASYLUM HEARINGS.
BUILDING HEALTH COMMUNITIES: (1) GUATEMALA - THROUGH IRT'S "BETTER VISION BRIGHTER FUTURE" PROGRAM, OUR TEAM SCREENED 522 PATIENTS AND DISTRIBUTED 752 PAIRS OF CORRECTIVE EYEGLASSES TO MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN WHO OTHERWISE DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO EYE CARE; (2) GUATEMALA - IRT DISTRIBUTED FOOD SUPPLEMENTS MONTHLY TO MORE THAN 10,000 VERY YOUNG CHILDREN (6 MONTHS - 2 YEARS OLD) SUFFERING FROM MALNUTRITION; (3) MEXICO IRT SENT 90 VOLUNTEERS WHO BUILT FOUR HOMES FOR IMPOVERISHED FAMILIES LIVING IN AN IMPROVISED SETTLEMENT COMMUNITY IN TIJUANA, MEXICO;
BUILDING HEALTH COMMUNITIES (CONTINUED): (4) CALIFORNIA IRT'S "FEEDING SAN DIEGO'S KIDS" PROGRAM PROVIDED WEEKLY WEEKEND FOOD FOR NEEDY AND HOMELESS SAN DIEGO SCHOOL CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES AT SIX INNER CITY SCHOOLS; (5) MEXICO SUPPORTED THE MONTHLY FOOD AND EDUCATION NEEDS FOR MORE THAN 40 ABANDONED CHILDREN AT KIDS KINGDOM ORPHANAGE IN BAJA; (6) NIGER, LIBERIA, HAITI, AND GUATEMALA - PROVIDED MORE THAN $43 MILLION IN URGENTLY NEEDED MEDICINES TO CLINICS AND HOSPITALS, SERVING MORE THAN 250,000 PEOPLE.
