Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE SDVC IS A CATALYST THAT INSPIRES COLLABORATION AND COOPERATIONAMONG SERVICE PARTNERS TO DELIVER PREMIER SUPPORT FOR VETERANS IN THE SAN DIEGO REGION.
(NONPROFIT, COUNTY, STATE, FEDERAL, VETERAN GROUPS) SO THAT THEIR COMBINED DELIVERY SYSTEMS ARE BETTER COORDINATED TO PROVIDE A MORE COLLABORATIVE AND COOPERATIVE ARRAY OF COMPREHENSIVE VETERAN AND FAMILY CENTRIC SUPPORT AND SERVICES.
THE SAN DIEGO VETERANS COALITION WAS INCORPORATED AS A 501(C)3 IN 2012 FOR THE PURPOSE OF COORDINATING INFORMATION SHARING AND COLLABORATION AMONG VETERAN SERVICE PROVIDERS. SDVC IS A PREMIER SAN DIEGO COUNTYWIDE MONTHLY CONVENER OF OVER 150 UNIQUE MEMBER AND PARTICIPATING ORGANIZATIONS, BUSINESSES, AND AGENCIES, AS WELL AS, FOUR ACTION GROUPS THAT PROVIDE VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES WITH A COMPLETE ARRAY OF SERVICES.
AT THE SDVC WE HAVE FOUND THAT COLLABORATION IS THE KEY TO ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF SAN DIEGO VETERANS, THEIR FAMILIES AND SIGNIFICANT OTHERS. WE HAVE FOUR ACTION GROUPS:1. PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH ACTION GROUP (PEH)2. FAMILY LIFE ACTION GROUP (FLAG)3. VETERANS: EMPOWERED, SUCCESSFUL, AND THRIVING ACTION GROUP (VEST)4. EDUCATION, EMPLOYMENT, ENTREPRENEURSHIP ACTION GROUP (E3)THROUGH THESE ACTION GROUPS WE ARE IDENTIFYING GAPS AND CREATING MEASURABLE OUTCOMES TO RESOLVE THEM. THESE GROUPS ARE MADE UP OF OUR MEMBERS AND TOGETHER WE ARE WORKING TO STRENGTHEN OUR COMMUNITY.DURING 2019 THE SAN DIEGO VETERANS COALITION (SDVC) COLLECTIVELY HELD OVER 75 REGULAR MONTHLY GENERAL CONVENING SESSIONS, ACTION GROUP MEETINGS, AND SPECIAL CONVENINGS AND EVENTS. THE SDVC IS A NATIONAL VETERAN INTERMEDIARY THROUGH SUPPORT FROM THE BOB WOODRUFF FOUNDATION, AND A LIVE WELL SAN DIEGO (LWSD) COUNTYWIDE PARTNER. FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT SDVC' PROGRAMS, EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES, AND COLLECTIVE IMPACT, VISIT WWW.SDVETSCOALITION.ORGSDVC PROGRAM ACTIVITIES WERE DELIVERED THROUGH OUR FIVE PROGRAMS; THE SAN DIEGO VETERANS COALITION (SDVC) GENERAL CONVENING, AND FOUR (4) ACTION GROUP PROGRAMS; FAMILY LIFE ACTION GROUP (FLAG), EMPLOYMENT EDUCATION ENTREPRENEURSHIP (E3) ACTION GROUP, PHYSICAL EMOTIONAL HEALTH (PEH) ACTION GROUP PROGRAM, AND VETERANS EMPOWERED SUCCESSFUL AND THRIVING (VEST) ACTION PROGRAM. -COLLECTIVELY HELD 12 GENERAL CONVENING SESSIONS, AND 48 ACTION GROUP MEETINGS-AVERAGE COLLECTIVE MONTHLY ATTENDANCE ACROSS ALL PROGRAMS: 152 ATTENDEES-OVER 160 UNIQUE MEMBER AND PARTICIPATING ORGANIZATIONS, BUSINESSES, AND AGENCIES ATTENDED SDVC GENERAL CONVENING AND ACTION GROUP MEETINGS IN 2019-PROVIDED RELEVANT ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE TO OVER WELL OVER 300 NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, FOR-PROFIT BUSINESSES, AND CITY, COUNTY, AND STATE AGENCIES THROUGHOUT 2019.IN 2019 THE SDVC AND ITS ACTION GROUP PROGRAMS COLLECTIVELY ORGANIZED, HELD OR PROVIDED ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE FOR, AND/OR COLLABORATIVELY PARTICIPATED IN MANY EVENTS AND PROJECTS INCLUDING: -TEMPORARY HOUSING FOR VETERANS, VA HOME BUYING AND OWNERSHIP BENEFITS, AND LANDLORD & RENTER RIGHTS EDUCATIONAL FORUMS-"THE POWER OF A STORY" VETERAN SUICIDE PREVENTION PANEL-AUDIENCE DISCUSSION AND RESOURCE EXPO HELD AT CAL STATE UNIVERSITY, SAN MARCOS BY SOME 46 ORGANIZATIONS FOR APPROXIMATELY 650 ATTENDEES -2019 WORKFORCE READINESS SUMMIT FOR 205 ATTENDEES/25 EXHIBITORS-AUGUST 2019 OMBUDSMAN RESOURCES FAIR FOR APPROXIMATELY 200 NAVAL COMMANDS-THE SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE SUCCESSFUL AGING EXPO PROVIDING VETERAN AND FAMILY SPECIFIC INFORMATION AND REFERRALS, AND TWO WORKSHOP PRESENTATIONS TO OVER 400 EXPO ATTENDEES-SAN DIEGO STAND DOWN FOR HOMELESS VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES SERVING APPROXIMATELY 750 PARTICIPANTS SERVED BY SEVERAL HUNDREDS OF VOLUNTEERS FROM THE GENERAL COMMUNITY AND OVER 100 ORGANIZATIONS -PRESENTED AT THE 3-DAY CALVET LEADERSHIP SUMMIT ATTENDED BY A CONTINGENT OF REPRESENTATIVES FROM CALVET AND NEARLY EVERY CALIFORNIA COUNTY-PRESENTED AT AND PARTICIPATED IN THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES (NACO) ATTENDED BY A CONTINGENT OF REPRESENTATIVES ACROSS THE U.S. AND U.S TERRITORIES.-CONVENED AND HOSTED A SPECIAL ALL-DAY VETERANS ROUNDTABLE FOR THE NATIONAL, CALIFORNIA, AMERICAN LEGION DISTRICT 22, AND VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS DISTRICT 1 COMMANDERS, AND "KEY" LEADERS OF SEVERAL SAN DIEGO COUNTY VETERAN AND FAMILY SERVING COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS, THE VA, CALVET, AND COUNTY OFFICE OF MILITARY VETERAN AFFAIRS -THE SAN DIEGO ANNUAL COMMUNITY INFORMATION EXCHANGE SUMMIT DRIVING CROSS-SECTOR COLLABORATION AND DATA SHARING TO CREATE HEALTHIER COMMUNITIES-AND SEVERAL OTHERS NOT LISTED
