OUR MISSION IS TO HELP OUR NEIGHBORS IN NEED BREAK THE CYCLE OF HOMELESSNESS AND POVERTY BY PROMOTING SELF-SUFFICIENCY THROUGH AN INNOVATIVE CONTINUUM OF CARE, MULTI-DISCIPLINARY PROGRAMS AND PARTNERSHIPS THAT COME TOGETHER IN THE SPIRIT OF OUR CREED TO TEACH, LEARN FROM AND CHALLENGE OUR NEIGHBORS AND ONE ANOTHER.
OUR MISSION IS TO HELP OUR NEIGHBORS IN NEED BREAK THE CYCLE OF HOMELESSNESS AND POVERTY.
PROGRAMS AND SERVICES FOR THE HOMELESS: WE PROVIDE A ONE-STOP SERVICE CENTER TO HELP THE HOMELESS AND OUR NEIGHBORS IN NEED ON A ONE AND ONE-HALF BLOCK CAMPUS IN DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO THAT INCLUDES TEMPORARY HOUSING AND WRAP AROUND SUPPORT SERVICES. IN 2019, MORE THAN 13,500 PEOPLE LIVING IN POVERTY ACCESSED ONE OR MORE SERVICES. NEARLY 1,00,000 MEALS WERE SERVED, INCLUDING A DAILY COMMUNITY LUNCH PROGRAM. WHILE WE PROVIDED OVER 9,000 PEOPLE ACCESS TO BASIC SERVICES SUCH AS SHOWERS, BATHROOMS, MAIL AND LAUNDRY. WE PROVIDE EMERGENCY, INTERIM, AND BRIDGE SHELTER FOR THOSE WHO NEED A SHORT TERM STAY BEFORE ACCESSING MORE STABLE HOUSING; RAPID RE-HOUSING FOR THOSE IN NEED OF TIME LIMITED RENTAL ASSISTANCE TO ESTABLISH THEMSELVES IN PERMANENT HOUSING; TRANSITIONAL HOUSING FOR THOSE WHO NEED FOCUSED SUPPORT TO OBTAIN INCOME AND PERMANENT HOUSING; PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING FOR PEOPLE WITH A DISABILITY WHOSE HOMELESSNESS HAS BECOME A CHRONIC CONDITION; AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR THOSE WITH LOW TO MODERATE INCOMES. WE ALSO PROVIDE HOUSING AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES FOR PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS. IN 2019, MORE THAN 1,200 PEOPLE SUCCESSFULLY MOVED INTO PERMANENT HOUSING. IN 2019, NEARLY 4,000 PEOPLE (INCLUDING CLOSE TO 600 CHILDREN AND MORE THAN 1800 PEOPLE AGED 60+) LIVED IN OUR RESIDENTIAL HOUSING PROGRAMS. WE SERVED NEARLY 1200 OF OUR NATION'S VETERANS THROUGHOUT ALL OF OUR PROGRAMS. 91% OF CHILDREN ENROLLED IN THERAPEUTIC CHILDCARE INCREASED THEIR ACADEMIC AND LIFE SKILLS AS A RESULT OF PARTICPATING IN THE PROGRAM. 94% OF THOSE WHO PARTICIPATED IN EMPLOYMENT AND EDUCATION SERVICES GAINED SKILLS NEEDED TO GET AND KEEP A JOB.
VILLAGE HEALTH CENTER: OUR LICENSED PRIMARY CARE CLINIC IS A FEDERALLY QUALIFIED HEALTH CENTER (FQHC). A COMBINED RESIDENCY PROGRAM IN PSYCHIATRIC AND FAMILY MEDICINE WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA SAN DIEGO (UCSD) IS A PREMIER PARTNERSHIP AND TRAINING SITE CONSIDERED TO BE A "BEST PRACTICE" APPROACH TO SERVING THOSE WHO ARE HOMELESS. IN 2019, MORE THAN 3,000 PATIENTS RECEIVED SERVICES (A 25% INCREASE OVER 2018), PROVIDING NEARLY 17,300 PATIENT VISITS. TRIAGE VISITS SAVED THE CITY OF SAN DIEGO OVER $4.7 MILLION DUE TO DECREASED USE OF EMERGENCY ROOMS AND AMBULANCES. HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS DONATED MORE THAN 4,000 HOURS IN SERVICES THAT ARE NOT REFLECTED IN THE ORGANIZATION'S EXPENSES. OUR DENTAL CLINIC HAD OVER 3,000 ENCOUNTERS, PROVIDING SERVICES RANGING FROM BASIC DENTAL CARE TO FULL DENTAL RESTORATIONS TO OVER 800 INDIVIDUALS. OUR REHABILITATIVE DENTISTRY PROGRAM TRANSFORMS OUR CLIENTS' LIVES BY PROVDING DENTURES FOR THOSE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED EXTENSIVE TOOTH LOSS. BY RESTORING SMILES, WE ENHANCE BOTH FUNCTION AND SELF-ESTEEM WHICH EMPOWERS THEM TO FIND EMPLOYMENT AND ACHIEVE STABLE HOUSING.
