Our mission is to broaden understanding and build trust between the people of the United States and China through education, philanthropy, and collaboration
The 1990 Institute sponsors a teacher workshop for high school teachers with the objective to provide current information and teaching materials about modern China. Current California state curriculum standards do not cover the last 30 to 40 years of Chinese history, a period when China transformed itself from a third world country into one of the worlds political and economic powers. This workshop bridges that gap, and gives teachers resources to add to their classroom curriculum to enhance their students understanding of todays China.
China Video Contest. The goal of the contest is to aspire American middle school, high school and college students to explore what China means to them nd why understanding China is important to their future. Our longer-term goal is to encourage them to think deeply and be more aware of U.S.-China relations, and how it impacts their future.
Education: Childrens Art and Education Projects (CAEP) was established in partnership with the China National Children Center (CNCC) in Beijing. Since 2007, we have sponored an international mural paiting festival in Beijing with participation with Chinese and international students. The Institute has provided two fellowships each year since 2007 for U.S. teachers to take students to China on cross-cultural exchange programs.
