Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area (AABA) has been the voice of the San Francisco Bay Areas Asian Pacific American (APA) legal community since 1976. AABA fosters professional development, community, and service. We are advocates and allies for civil rights, representation, and equality.
AABA provides Asian Pacific American (APA) attorneys in the Bay Area a vehicle to express opinions on matters of concern to all APAs, to encourage and promote the professional growth of its members, and to serve the APA and minority communities.
Our Community Service Committee and Civil Rights Committees provide opportunities for attorneys and law students to engage the community through pro bono, community service, and civil rights activities and/or educational opportunities, including monthly pro bono clinics in Oakland and San Francisco through a partnership with API Legal Outreach. In addition, AABA provides funds to the AABA Law Foundation for summer law clerk grants for law students in public interest internships.
Our committees, including but not limited to Education, Judicial, Newsletter/Website, and Public Law, provide a host of programs and services for our members and Asian Pacific American legal professionals and law students.
Our Social Committee hosts a holiday party at the end of each year to bring together our membership for an evening of food, drink, and socializing. A swearing-in ceremony is also conducted for those who recently passed the bar exam.
