Organizations Filed Purposes: At Blue Bear, we believe music nourishes, inspires and connects us; we are dedicated to providing opportunities for everyone to learn and play music.

Blue Bear School of Musics nonprofit mission is to provide superior quality and affordable popular music education to aspiring musicians of all ages and skill levels within a supportive and encouraging community.

Blue Bear School of Music offers group and private music instruction for musicians of all ages and skill levels with an emphasis on popular music styles. Most tuition-based programs in 2019 were offered in four 11-week sessions plus one-time seminars and week-long youth intensive summer camps, with ongoing private instruction. During 2019, Blue Bear offered more than 9,150 private lessons to enrolled students. Group adult class and band workshop offerings totaled more than 3,400 hours of instruction with 2-15 students per class. Additionally, Blue Bear taught more than 1,150 hours of after-school course and summer camps for over 200 unique school-age students which included over 65 participants in the semester-long All Star Bank programs. Blue Bear's Community Youth Programs are off-site grant-based and fee for service offerings providing instrumental music, ensemble music, and computer-based music and songwriting instruction in Bay Area public schools and community centers. During 2018, Community Youth continued its Digital Audio Program in a dedicated studio space in the Bayview-Hunters Point YMCA facility with four sessions per week throughout the school year, all free to participants. The Band Playing program operated at The Academy of Arts and Sciences (a San Francisco public school) four days per week throughout the school semesters. Blue Bear also continued its courses at The Mix at the San Francisco Public Library three days per week. Blue Bears also engaged with a variety of community partners for a variety of programs throughout San Francisco and surrounding Bay Area communities.

Sliding scale tuition discounts and scholarships are offered to lower-income students of all ages and skill levels. Youth tuition scholarships offered by Blue Bear are granted by annual audition based on skill, talent, need, and dedication.
