Organizations Filed Purposes: Canbar Association is a specialty bar association for attorneys that offers its members legal education, networking opportunities, and community benefits like discounts on memberships and subscriptions to related organization, industry events, and legal support services related to our members practice of law.

In Person Continuing Legal Education (CLE) & Networking Events: For the year ended June 30, 2020, we held five major educational events, three of which were in person, and two of which were online virtual conferences due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We held two of the three in-person events as full-day legal education events in conjunction with large national conferences, offering continuing legal education for around 100 attorneys per event, and each event consisted of 6 hours of legal education. For the remaining in-person event, we hosted a multi-day educational event at a law school with total attendance of about 275 people (speakers and attendees), where we offered around 26 hours of legal education. With the emergence of Covid, we were forced to host our April and June 2020 events in an online, Virtual Conference capacity. We hosted 4 and 6 hours of education, respectively, and hosted around 50 attorneys at each event. All told, we hosted 48 hours of virtual content in our in-person and virtual conference formats, interspersed with Keynote speeches from important practitioners, politicians and regulators. Our attendees at these events, as they have in the past, consisted of around 85% current membership and 15% potential members and other attorneys. In addition to offering CLE, we also foster a strong legal community by offering networking events to our members in order to connect attorneys for professional development, referrals, and to create a more tight-knit global community. Our international presence continues to expand, and before March of 2020, we hosted three major networking events and a variety of smaller regional events, serving between 15-150 members at each event.

Member-based Committees: We have organized 11 member-based committees that are staffed with volunteers and that engage in a variety of work. In addition to our CLE and Events Committees, which put on the in-person education and networking events discussed above, we also have, among others, the:- Diversity and Inclusion Committee, which promotes diversity in the Legal Profession.- Online Content Committee, which runs our blog and feeds material to other publications on behalf of our members. - Advocacy and pro bono Committee (advocacy for the legal profession and connecting attorneys with extra time to pro bono clients in need).- Leading Issues and Amicus Committee, which identifies relevant legal trends and has filed amicus briefs in select cases. - International Committee, which helps with non-US membership building.- Students Committee, which has created 12 Student Bar Associations in law schools in the US. - The Legislative Advisement Committee, which publishes public comments on pending legislative action and rulemaking. - The Ethics Committee, which examines the pertinent ethics rules in each jurisdiction, and helps our members navigate the state level ethics rules applicable to lawyers.

Online Community Building: In addition to our CLE educational and networking events, we have also continued to build out our online facilities to support our membership. We have created a few new features, and continue to build out the existing features from last year. We have created an on-demand library of CLE Courses that our members can view for credit at their convenience, which we added to our already existing and vibrant online forums and membership directory. We have also added a student directory, an allied services directory (intended to list support staff and software providers to help lawyers do their jobs better), and an advisory board to better inform us what would be useful for our membership.
