Organizations Filed Purposes: The Center for Resource Solutions (CRS), established in 1997, promotes policy and market solutions to advance sustainable energy. CRS works with a global network of stakeholders to advance its high-quality programs and leadership in clean energy markets and policy developments. CRS founded and administers the Green-e certification programs that ensure environmental impact, quality and integrity in clean energy and carbon offset markets both in the US and abroad, develops best practices and provides assistance to clean energy and carbon reduction to organizations and policymakers globally, and develops clean-energy focused educational programs, materials and events, including the Renewable Energy MarketsTM conferences. CRS is headquartered in San Francisco, California.

CRS creates policy and market solutions to advance sustainable energy. CRS increases renewable energy use and lowers GHG emissions through its Green-e certification programs, policy advocacy, expert assistance, educational programs, and annual conference.

Green-e Certification Programs The Green-e programs guide individuals and organizations to increase their use of the renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions by providing not just environmental quality criteria and consumer protection, but also advocacy, education, and market oversight. Together, the three Green-e programsGreen-e Climate, Green-e Energy, and Green-e Marketplaceprovide a framework for the private sector to increase its use of renewable energy by increasing the integrity and transparency of existing clean energy markets that operate largely independent of local, state and national oversight. The programs together certify a wide range of options to support consumers, organizations and businesses in reducing their environmental impacts and accelerating the transition to a clean energy economy. Green-e Climate certifies carbon offsets sold to businesses and individuals globally who choose to reduce the impact of their non-electricity energy use.The Green-e Energy program certifies the majority of the voluntary renewable energy market in the U.S., including over 90% of the renewable energy certificate (REC) transactions. Green-e Energy is active in Canada, Chile and Singapore, and expanding its impact in both Latin America and Asia. The program certifies the full range of renewable energy purchasing options, including utility green power programs, REC/EAC products, green electricity programs offered by energy service providers in regions that offer consumer choice, community choice aggregation programs, shared solar, and direct purchasing/PPAs. Green-e Marketplace works with organizations and businesses of all sizes to help them reduce the impact of their energy use and promote their environmental actions to their stakeholders, customers and employees. The Green-e logo is used by a wide variety of companies and brands to communicate renewable energy actions, including on products as varied as diapers and wine that are manufactured with 100% renewable energy.

Policy and Green Power Market Development CRS continually assists lawmakers, regulators, and advocates in developing policy solutions that advance clean energy and reduce carbon emissions. It works at state, national, and international levels to ensure that policy decisions are informed with an understanding of renewable energy markets and promote the continuing growth of clean-energy solutions. In 2019 CRS was active in dozens of public processes and interactions with other sustainability organizations and government agencies to promote the use of sustainable energy, including CRSs work to support the use of renewable energy in reducing greenhouse gas impacts. The organization also published a number of reports and white papers that address the voluntary green power market, best practices for RECs and renewable energy claims, solar power consumer protection, and other best practices and policy recommendations to support the continued development of robust renewable energy markets.

CRS Education Programs CRSs educational programs assist regulators, consumers and green power market participants in advancing renewable energy market growth and access. During 2019, CRSs education programs created in-person, virtual and web-based content, highlighting best practices, sharing experience from industry leading practitioners, and providing introductory learning for new consumers and entrants into the clean power market. In 2019 CRS continued to organize, in partnership with the U.S. EPAs Green Power Partnership Program, the Renewable Energy Markets (REM) conference which serves as an important forum for advancing clean power markets, ranging from community renewables and policy developments to advances in development and financing tools for corporate renewable energy procurement. Over 400 attendees attended the 23rd REM conference in San Diego, California, including renewable energy generators, marketers, utility representatives, purchasers, policymakers, and regional and international stakeholders.CRS and the U.S. EPA presented the annual Green Power Leadership Awards at the REM conference to recognize organizations and individuals playing a leadership role in green power market development, purchasing, and supply. The awards recognize outstanding commitments and achievements in the green power marketplace for both individuals and organizations.
