Organizations Filed Purposes: The Chinese Progressive Association educates and organizes the low income and working class immigrant Chinese community in San Francisco to build collective power with other oppressed communities to demand better living and working conditions and justice for all people.

CPA organizes working class Chinese immigrant adults and youth to increase their voices through social justice direct action campaigns and leadership development. Our work within our Tenant Worker Center and Youth Organizing work allows our member/leaders to learn about and engage in issues most effecting our community.

Tenant Worker Center (TWC) - Workers Rights and Wage Clinic: This program provides education and services to clients about workers rights and employment laws including statutory labor standards such as minimum wage and paid sick leave. We also coordinate seven community organizations to multilingual services and neighborhoods throughout San Francisco. TWC Hospitality Vocational Training Program: This program provides ESL classes to workers interested in hospitality sector work and provides job training and job placement assistance to students.

Youth Development: This program strives to develop youth's leadership skills through their participation in our campaign work. This year, over 60 youth participated. We completed our 6th annual Youth Leadership Retreat, where 40 attended to learn about CPA's history and campaigns, and to build community with each other. During the summer, Youth members focused on building learning about the funding for public education, gender issues and about increasing rental costs in San Francisco.

Leadership Development: This year we expanded our fellowship program to include hosts at 12 organizations across the country with a total of 30 fellows. It included an intensive weeklong orientation to social justice issues as well as weekly webinars over the 10 week program.
