Organizations Filed Purposes: To inspire passion for the circus arts through training, performance, and community engagement. To inspire passion for the circus arts through training, performance, and community engagement.

TRAINING: Circus Center offers classes for every level of ability in flying trapeze, acrobatics, aerial arts, contortion, juggling, and many other disciplines. It has training for all ages, from recreational and pre-professional youth programs serving students as young as 6 years old, to recreational adult classes and private lessons. It also offers full-time professional training for aspiring physical comedians through the Clown Conservatory program, which graduated 11 students this year. In addition, Circus Center offers artist residencies; summer camp; corporate, youth, and group events; workshops; specialty intensives; and much more. Its world-renowned team of instructors has performed with the Nanjing Acrobatic Troupe, Moscow Circus, Cirque du Soleil, Pickle Family Circus, Circus Bella, Circus Smirkus, Teatro ZinZanni, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, and the Big Apple Circus.

PERFORMANCE: Circus Center produces a six-show season of professional performances in the Circus Center Cabaret series. This year, it also mounted its second professional production for families at Children's Fairyland, a non-profit theme park in Oakland. These shows employ dozens of circus, music, and variety artists annually. The Center also produces five semi-professional shows annually: two performed by the trainees in its Clown Conservatory professional training program; two performed by professionals and advanced adult students; and one performed by the San Francisco Youth Circus, its pre-professional youth training program. Collectively these performances serve thousands of audience members every year, all at accessible ticket prices.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Circus Center partners with schools and community organizations to offer circus arts activities to underserved young people. This year, it continued its weekly adaptive circus program in partnership with a school for children with autism and other cognitive challenges, and it secured multi-year municipal funding for its after-school program at a center for economically disadvantaged children. The Center also continued its regular series of community open houses to provide low-barrier introductions to the world of circus. And for youth and children who get bit by the circus bug, Circus Center offers generous need-based financial assistance and other support for their participation in all of its on-site youth programming.
