Organizations Filed Purposes:
To connect youth to the ocean and themselves through surfing. We use surfing as a vehicle to connect youth with nature, form healthy habits, and find personal growth.
Surf instruction and leadership training: In 2019, CSP partnered with 8 different public schools to teach surfing PE classes. In groups of 10-15, students go to the pool for swim lessons, on the bay at Crissy Field to paddle, and to the beach for surfing lessons. In 2019, CSP went on 190 outings giving students the opportunity to attend over 90 hours of surfing throughout the year. The majority of participants in these schools have little to no prior exposure to the ocean. For many, these outings represent opportunities to try and accomplish things they never thought possible, like surfing at a cold beach in San Francisco. In 2019, roughly 400 youth participated in CSP's programs, 150 of these youth were new to the sport.
