Organizations Filed Purposes: COMMUNITY MUSIC CENTER'S MISSION IS TO OFFER LOW COST, HIGH QUALITY, ACCESSIBLE MUSIC INSTRUCTION AND PERFORMANCES TO PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, INCOMES AND BACKGROUNDS.

TO MAKE HIGH QUALITY MUSIC ACCESSIBLE TO ALL PEOPLE, REGARDLESS OF THEIR FINANCIAL STATUS.

COMMUNITY MUSIC EDUCATION AND PERFORMANCE: SINCE 1921, COMMUNITY MUSIC CENTER (CMC) HAS CREATED PATHWAYS TO EXCEPTIONAL MUSIC AND MUSIC EDUCATION, SERVING PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, LEVELS, AND BACKGROUNDS. LAST YEAR MORE THAN 3,200 STUDENTS, RANGING IN AGE FROM 2-99, BENEFITED FROM THE EXPERTISE OF 130 FACULTY MEMBERS THROUGH LESSONS, ENSEMBLE CLASSES, WORKSHOPS, AND COMMUNITY PERFORMANCES. CMC'S FACULTY INCLUDES NOTED PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS, GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING MUSICIANS, AND NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED TEACHERS. STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND GUEST ARTISTS OF INTERNATIONAL STATURE ARE FEATURED IN HUNDREDS OF CONCERTS EACH YEAR, HELD IN THE 139-SEAT CMC CONCERT HALL. CMC STUDENTS AND TEACHERS REFLECT THE DEMOGRAPHICS OF THE MISSION AND RICHMOND DISTRICTS, WHERE CMC OPERATES ITS HEADQUARTERS AND A BRANCH FACILITY. BOTH ARE HOME TO MANY LATINO AND ASIAN IMMIGRANTS. STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND GUEST ARTISTS OF INTERNATIONAL STATURE ARE FEATURED IN HUNDREDS OF CONCERTS EACH YEAR, HELD IN THE 139-SEAT CMC CONCERT HALL AND AT PARTNERSHIP SITES.CMC'S MISSION OF ACCESSIBILITY DRIVES EVERY ASPECT OF ITS WORK. ITS SUBSTANTIAL TUITION-ASSISTANCE PROGRAM SUPPORTS STUDENTS THROUGH FREE PROGRAMS, SCHOLARSHIPS, SLIDING-SCALE TUITION, AND WORK STUDY. THE ORGANIZATION'S COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY IS ALSO REFLECTED IN THE RANGE OF PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES IT OFFERS, FROM INSTRUCTION IN MORE THAN THIRTY INSTRUMENTS TO VARIOUS AFTER-SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY-BASED INITIATIVES THAT BENEFIT LOW-INCOME OR EDUCATIONALLY DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS. PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL ARTS ORGANIZATIONS, SCHOOLS, AND COMMUNITY CENTERS STRENGTHEN NETWORKS AND LEVERAGE RESOURCES. THE YOUNG MUSICIANS PROGRAM RELIES ON SUCH PARTNERSHIPS, OFFERING TUITION-FREE, COMPREHENSIVE MUSIC EDUCATION TO LOCAL YOUTH, WITH A SPECIAL FOCUS ON THE MISSION DISTRICT. THE TUITION-FREE CHILDREN'S CHORUS PROVIDES SERVICES TO THE VERY YOUNG; ON THE OTHER END OF THE AGE SPECTRUM, THE OLDER ADULT CHOIR PROGRAM BRINGS THE JOYS OF SINGING TO DIVERSE, LOW-INCOME ADULTS AT SENIOR CENTERS THROUGHOUT SAN FRANCISCO, BENEFITING THEIR HEALTH AND WELL-BEING.

CAMPUS EXPANSION: IN 2012, CMC PURCHASED THE NEIGHBORING BUILDING, TAKING ADVANTAGE OF A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPAND IN PLACE IN THE MISSION DISTRICT. THE CURRENT CAPITAL CAMPAIGN WILL SUPPORT RENOVATION OF BOTH BUILDINGS, THE CONCERT HALL AND CENTRAL COURTYARD, TO CREATE A SINGLE, INTEGRATED CAMPUS. THE IMMEDIATE GOAL IS TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL AND IMPROVED SPACE FOR CORE ACTIVITIES IN EDUCATIONAL AND CREATIVE REALMS, WITH INCREASED ACCESSIBILITY. THE ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO SERVE OUR COMMUNITY LONG INTO THE FUTURE, OFFERING AN EXAMPLE TO OTHER ORGANIZATIONS OF THE POTENTIAL OF MUSIC EDUCATION TO PROVIDE EVIDENCE-BASED, MEASURABLE BENEFITS TO STUDENTS OF ALL AGES AND BACKGROUNDS. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2019, $2,698,640 WAS RAISED IN TEMPORARILY RESTRICTED AND PERMANENTLY RESTRICTED FUNDS FOR THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN.
