Groundswell Action Fund provides an easy way for individual donors to resource the strongest 501(c)(4) grassroots organizing and base building efforts led by women of color, low-income women and transgender people across the United States.
Groundswell Action Fund supports organizations and leaders who are paving the road to liberation and harnessing elections as part of a broader strategy of transformation and power building. While we, and our grantee partners, understand the importance of winning individual elections or policy fights, the long-term prize is creating and sustaining a truly inclusive, participatory democracy with leaders who come from and reflect our communities and are rooted in progressive values of interconnectedness, structural inclusion, an economy for the common good, and liberation. We also recognize that democracy requires not just robust elections and legislative processes, but also people in the streets ready and able to hold power accountable.
Our grantee organizations and their communities confront the violence and hatred of a system rooted in racism, misogyny, and homo- and transphobia daily. Liberation from that violence and hate inclusive of the freedom to live, love, and be secure is our ultimate goal, one that we share with our grantee organizations; we know that one election cannot bring about that liberation. Thats why we, Groundswell and the communities we support, are in this for the long haul.
