The Immigration Institute of the Bay Area helps immigrants, refugees, and their families join and contribute to the community.
Founded in 1918, The Immigration Institute of the Bay Area (IIBA) is now the largest nonprofit provider of immigration legal services in Northern California with eight offices in six Bay Area Counties (Contra Costa, Alameda, San Mateo, San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma). Last year, IIBA provided legal consultations to 4434 individuals and conducted education and outreach to 3469 individuals. The IIBA legal team submitted applications for 5750 individuals and their families and provided representation for 75 individuals in removal proceedings. The legal team also represented 57 clients with their asylum applications their applications for special immigrant juvenile status (SIJS). Ninety-Two pro bono volunteer attorneys along with 69 non-attorney volunteers who contributed more than 3000 volunteer hours supported this work.
