Organizations Filed Purposes:
To produce, present and promote art that empowers Asian Pacific American artists and communities
APAture 2019 - 17th annual multidisciplinary arts festival taking place in San Francisco and Oakland venues that showcased over 60 early career Asian Pacific American artists from across Northern California in 7 distinct events spanning visual arts, media arts, performing arts, literary arts, and design, with an estimated attendance of 1,000 people throughout the course of its 3-week run. Satellite events included artist panels and mini workshops and demos. Curated and organized by a peer-based committee of 20 emerging leaders in the arts, who received rigorous, hands-on training in arts management.
Interdisciplinary Writers Lab - Interdisciplinary Writers Lab was held in partnership with the Asian Art Museum. For twelve weeks over the summer a cohort of 15 students moved through three different four-week courses in poetry, fiction, and writing for performance taught by Tongo Eisen-Martin, Elaine Castillo, and Margot Gomez. The reading of the 2018 cohort drew an estimated 50 attendees and a chapbook will be released this fall.
Education -KSW legacy is one built on teaching, sharing resources, and creating community in times of need. To continue this legacy, we are offering classes that teach skills, consider unique perspectives central to marginalized experiences, and are accessible. Through our education program, artists can participate in online classes to learn new skills and make new connections.
