PERFORMANCES: THE KRONOS QUARTET TOURS FOR 22 WEEKS EACH YEAR IN THE UNITED STATES AND ABROAD. THIS YEAR THE GROUP STOPPED TOURING AND PERFORMING FOR LIVE AUDIENCES ON MARCH 8, 2020 DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. PRIOR TO THAT TIME, PERFORMANCES TOOK PLACE AT CONCERT HALLS, UNIVERSITIES, OUTDOOR STAGES, FESTIVALS, AND CLUBS, INCLUDING THE BARBICAN IN LONDON, TERRAS SEM SOMBRA FESTIVAL IN SINES, YOUTH ARTS FESTIVAL IN KROSNO, VERANOS DE LA VILLA FESTIVAL IN MADRID, ELECTRIC CASTLE FESTIVAL IN CLUJ-NAPOCA, BANFF CENTRE, KENNEDY CENTER IN WASHINGTON DC, UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA-LAS VEGAS, EMORY UNIVERSITY, UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA, DIANA WORTHAM THEATRE IN ASHVILLE, FRESHGRASS FESTIVAL AT MASSMOCA, MUSICAL INSTRUMENT MUSEUM IN PHOENIX, MELBOURNE FESTIVAL, MCMASTER UNIVERSITY, ARS MUSICA IN BRUSSELS, AND MANY MORE. KRONOS ALSO PERFORMS REGULARLY IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA [continued on Schedule 0]
EDUCATION: KRONOS PARTICIPATES IN MENTORING AND EDUCATION PROJECTS ON AN ONGOING BASIS. IN 2015 (AND CONTINUING THROUGH 2021), KPAA LAUNCHED FIFTY FOR THE FUTURE: THE KRONOS LEARNING REPERTOIRE, AN EDUCATIONAL PROJECT THAT COMMISSIONED FIFTY NEW WORKS FROM A GROUP OF COMPOSERS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR STUDENT AND EMERGING PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS. KRONOS PREMIERES AND RECORDS EACH PIECE AND CREATES COMPANION DIGITAL MATERIALS, INCLUDING SCORES, RECORDINGS, COMPOSER INTERVIEWS, AND PERFORMANCE NOTES, WHICH ARE DISTRIBUTED ONLINE FOR FREE. KRONOS PARTICIPATES IN MANY RESIDENCIES EACH YEAR, WORKING WITH STUDENT COMPOSERS, MUSICIANS, AND STUDENTS FROM OTHER AREAS OF STUDY. KRONOS OFTEN PERFORMS FOR SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN AND FAMILIES, BOTH IN SCHOOLS AND IN CONCERT HALL SETTINGS. KPAA MANAGEMENT ALSO ADVISES VARIOUS OTHER ORGANIZATIONS, PERFORMERS, COMPOSTERS AND ARTS [continued on Schedule O]
CREATION: KPAA HAS COMMISSIONED MORE THAN 1,000 NEW WORKS AND ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE KRONOS QUARTET SINCE THE GROUPS FOUNDING. KRONOS ALSO CREATES STAGED WORKS, INCLUDING RECENT PRODUCTIONS A THOUSAND THOUGHTS, MY LAI, AND THE ALONZO KING LINES BALLET 35TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON. MANY WORKS COMMISSIONED BY KRONOS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED AND RECORDED BY OTHER MUSICIANS AND USED IN DANCE, THEATRE, TELEVISION, FILM, AND DIGITAL PRODUCTIONS.
