The Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts ("MCCLA") was established in1977 by artists and community activists with a shared vision to promote, preserve and develop the Latino cultural arts that reflect the living tradition and experiences of Chicano, Mexican, Central and South American, and Caribbean people. The MCCLA makes the arts accessible as an essential element to community development and well being.MCCLA retails low cost arts education classes, cultural and artistic activities,screenprinting services, and space for creative expression, cultural celebration and community engagement. MCCLA achieves so through service fees and admissions, individual donors, foundations, partnerships with the City of SF (Sf Arts Commission), and project sponsors.

PROGRAMMINGMCCLA offered a diverse, inclusive programming, offering over 30+ artistic andcultural events in collaboration with local, emerging, and visiting artists. Events, which included, film screenings, poetry & literary events, performances, yielded approximately 40,000 visitors, serving 300+ artists and performers. MCCLA vigorously outreached to the community at large, participating in local fairs and festivals (i.e., Calle 24s Festival de las Americas, the Cesar Chavez Celebration and Parade, Carnaval SF, and Day of the Dead Procession).
ARTS EDUCATION - Classes / Workshops / Exhibits & ToursIn 2018-2019, MCCLA provided over 65 weekly and workshops in dance, music,manual, performing, and visual arts to all ages. The Galleries presented 12 exhibits and offered 70+ guided tours to 1,800 students (ages 7 to 19) and 25 SF Unified School District and other schools. MCCLA engaged 160 youth in its 2 Multicultural Arts Summer Program (MAS) sessions. The Mission Music SF After School MusicEducation Program, completed 4 years of operation at MCCLA, serving approximately35 youth during the school year. An 11 member choir was added to the violin and cello instruction. 3 public performances were given in the year, including one at the prestigious SF Conservatory of Music. Two students from the program were awardedfull scholarships to attend week-long summer music camps at the Univ of the Pacific.
EVENTSMCCLA events yielded approximately 40,000 visitors and 100,000 audiencemembers. 300+ artists were served with $145,000 spent by MCCLA on artists,performers and teachers, and $7,700 on artist fees. MCCLA hosted 43 multicultural,multidisciplinary events: among them: MCCLAs annual Open House, 27 cultural /artistic performances, 14 poetry and literature and 11 youth events, 2 theatreproductions, and an annual fundraiser (Ofrendas) MCCLA also participated in variousin community festivals and fairs such as: Cesar Chavez Parade, Carnaval SF, Calle 24Paseo Artistico and Fiesta de las Amricas.
