Organizations Filed Purposes: Mission Neighborhood Centers delivers culturally sensitive, multi-generational, community-based services focused on low-income families. We develop and promote leadership skills that empower families to build strong, healthy and vibrant neighborhoods.

Since 1959, the Mission Neighborhood Centers (MNC), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, with 12 centers in the Mission, Excelsior, Mission Bay and Bayview districts, provides quality programs that promote empowerment, education, self-sufficiency and community growth for the San Francisco's low income children, youth, families and seniors through our Child Development Programs (429 children, ages 0-5 years old), Youth Programs (761 youth ages 6-24), Family Resource Center Services, Workforce Development (368 Youth & Young Adults ages 15 to 35) and Adults with Disabilities Programs (650 seniors, ages 60+ and Adults with Disabilities)

Child Development: the Head Start program provides child development preschool services to children ages 0-5. In 2014, MNC was awarded a Federal Head Start/Early Head Start Grantee contract, providing greater resources to serve more children. CA Department of Education Services provides wraparound services, allowing parents who work or go to school full time to place their children in full-day care. Preschool for All Services provide funding for children age 4 to attend preschool. 350 infants, toddlers, and preschoolers were served during the year.

Youth Program: Youths participated in age-appropriate empowerment activities designed to assist high-risk youth and gang-affiliated youth to reach their fullest potential, develop leadership and employment skills and attain their educational goals. Youth programs included case management, after school tutorial programs, drop-in recreation, girls and boys support groups, female focused services, organized sport activities, summer youth employment, HIV, STI, and pregnancy prevention programs, special events, field trips, gang prevention and evening street outreach programs. Approximately 800 youths were served by MNC through its youth programs during the year.

Workforce Development: Year round ProgramMission Neighborhood Centers year round program provides job training and workforce development opportunities to disenfranchised young and older adults from disadvantaged neighborhoods in San Francisco. Participants receive support in securing their GED, drivers license and other wrap around services. The 12- month pre-trainee program collaborates with Public Works to maintain freeway on and off ramps, sidewalks, medians and other public spaces. This program also provides green waste removal, planting, weeding, tree maintenance and landscaping. Participants in the year round program receive a total of 40 hours of job readiness training and 1248 hours of hands on work experience. Fillmore Corridor ProgramMission Neighborhood Centers Corridor Ambassador program provides job training and workforce development opportunities to disenfranchised young and older adults from the Western Addition. The 12- month pre-trainee program collaborates with Public Works to ensure the availability of safe and clean public spaces and provides support to merchants in the Fillmore corridor. Participants in the corridor program receive a total of 40 hours of job readiness training and 1248 hours work experience focusing on maintaining city streets. Youth & Young Adult Summer Employment ProgramMission Neighborhood Centers Summer Youth employment program provides job training and workforce development opportunities to disenfranchised youth and young adults from disadvantaged neighborhoods in San Francisco. The 10- week program collaborates with Public Works and Urban Forestry to train youth on litter collection, debris removal, weeding and planting. Summer youth receive a total of 30 hours of job readiness training and 170 hours of hands on work experience.
