Human Trafficking Eradication Through this program NCJW San Francisco Section has been instrumental in bringing the issue of human trafficking to the forefront of the Bay Area community's thoughts and actions. Through advocacy, education and collaboration building NCJW members have been working to mobilize the local community for an organize response to human trafficking. Since 2006, NCJW San Francisco Section has initiated and assisted the operation two major collaborations: The Jewish Coalition to End Human Trafficking, chaired and staffed by NCJW San Francisco Section, is an educational, advocacy organization that works on broadening the understanding in the Jewish Community regarding the crime of human trafficking and supporting the local providers of service to trafficking survivors. The Coalition's objectives are two-fold: 1) Partner with other interfaith and human rights groups, non-profits, government officials and law enforcement agencies to raise awareness of and take action against human trafficking 2) Advocate for consistent and comprehensive anti-trafficking legislation that provides for strict criminal penalties for traffickers as well as for protection and rehabilitation for trafficking survivors The San Francisco Collaborative Against Human Trafficking (SFCAHT), co-chaired, coordinated and staffed by NCJW San Francisco Section is a partnership between over 30 agencies representing a broad array of nongovernmental organizations, government agencies, law enforcement agencies, service providers, educators, and community members. A central objective of the Collaborative is to raise awareness about human trafficking and increase anti-trafficking community effort by providing outreach and education both to those who are directly impacted by the crime and to the Bay Area community at large. Protecting survivors of human trafficking has been a priority for the Collaborative. In their key leadership roles on the Collaborative, NCJWs passionate activists have been working tirelessly to eradicate human trafficking in San Francisco and Bay Area through collaboration, education, outreach, advocacy and support to survivors of human trafficking. NCJWs leaders involved in the convening for the creation of the Collaborative have been awarded and especially recognized by the San Francisco Mayor's office for their initiative and extraordinary achievement.

Empowerment of Women and Girls Enhancing and enriching life of women and girls has been a major priority for NCJW San Francisco Section in serving the Bay Area community at large. Our programs are designed to empower women and girls to cope with challenging and unexpected life situations by providing them with necessary knowledge, safety net and referral to additional service. The Scholarships Program is aimed at supporting women engaged in social justice projects during their studies, single mothers in educating themselves or their children, human trafficking survivors and girls at risk of violence and exploitation. The program energized NCJWs membership to participate in the section's work on women empowerment, specifically empowerment through education. Domestic Violence and Family Safety Program is focused on increasing awareness of all forms of family members abuse, especially women, child and elderly abuse by other family members or non-family members. NCJWs activists collaborate with government and non-profit organizations to improve prevention practices and to support direct providers of service to victims. Special priority has been given to programs raising awareness of the existing safeguards and techniques to develop healthy relationships. For its work in support of direct service to victims of domestic violence, NCJW San Francisco Section was awarded with Shalom Bayits Changing Lives Award. Center for Women and Girls is a program of NCJW San Francisco Section in collaboration with the San Francisco Department on the Status of Women aimed at empowering women and girls in transition through providing them with educational seminars and leadership opportunities. The Center serves all women and girls, regardless faith, socio-economic status and background and is committed to address a wide range of compelling issues, such as self-esteem improvement, economic empowerment, financial literacy, career development and stress reduction. The program has been exploring additional collaborative and outreach resources based in NCJWs existing networks and partnerships. The Study Group is an educational program for the Section's members and fellows interested in enhancing their knowledge of various topics of contemporary importance. With this program members and fellows have been exploring a broad range of social, cultural and political issues and presenting solutions for going forward. The program has been a powerful tool to service members and reach out to new membership resources. The Israel Program is focused on strengthening civil society in the country and promoting Israel's progress in women rights and social justice. In addition, this program serves as an educational platform for members, fellows and community at large to learn about successful social justice projects in Israel.
