The Organization is a globally renowned proponent of new & experimental music. The Organization produces festival concerts, film screenings, radio programs & CDs, commissions new work & hosts an Internet site preserving 1000s of hours of recorded interviews & music.
Other Minds was unable to present its 25th anniversary festival as planned as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic. The festival has been rescheduled to October 14-17, 2021.
On March 12, 2020, Other Minds presented a workshop performance of Kui Dongs in-progress opera Hutong at the Cinnabar Theater in Petaluma, CA. The performance was filmed and will be used by Ms. Dong to attract support for its full-scale production upon its completion. Other Minds presented two installments of its ongoing concert/interview series The Nature of Music. On January 19, 2020 at Berkeleys David Brower Center, OM presented works by Charles Amirkhanian. Afterword he interviewed by the composer Kyle Gann. On December 3, 2020, OM presented its first live-streamed event via The Nature of Music this time featuring inter-species musician Jim Nollman who joined Amirkhanian in conversation via Zoom. OM presented five installments of its concert series Latitudes, which took place at the Center for New Music in San Francisco. The concerts included performances by Andrew Weathers, AMMA Ateria, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, I.M.A., Christopher Duncan, Samara Lubelski and Marcia Bassett, John Krausbauer and Kaori Suzuki, Joseph Hammer, Kaori Suzuki (solo), Henry Birdsey, and Angel Archer.
Publishing of CDs and digital downloads of unusual and otherwise unavailable contemporary non-commercial art music from around the world. From July 1, 2019 June 30, 2020, OM released three new digital albums by Paul Kalbach, Helen Thorington, and Sheila Davies Sumner.
