Organizations Filed Purposes: THE PERENNIAL FARMING INITIATIVE IS A 501(C)(3) NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO COMBATING CLIMATE CHANGE FROM A CULINARY PERSPECTIVE. PFI'S OVERARCHING GOAL IS TO FOSTER AND SUPPORT PROGRESSIVE AGRICULTURE, MEANING FOOD PRODUCTION THAT IS NOT ONLY ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE, BUT ALSO EQUITABLE AND PRODUCTIVE. OUR PROJECTS WORK TO MINIMIZE THE NEGATIVE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS ASSOCIATED WITH FARMING AND RANCHING, WHILE ACTIVELY USING AGRICULTURE AS A TOOL FOR SEQUESTERING GREENHOUSE GASES AND FIGHTING CLIMATE CHANGE.

ENGAGE THE PUBLIC, THE RESTAURANT INDUSTRY, AND FOOD POLICY LEADERS IN CLIMATE-RESTORATION POTENTIAL OF REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE.ORGANIZED EVENT: "DIRT SAVES EARTH," PART OF THE GLOBAL CLIMATE ACTION SUMMIT THAT CONVENED IN SAN FRANCISCO IN SEPTEMBER 2018: PFI ORGANIZED A GATHERING OF STAKEHOLDERS ACROSS THE FOOD AND CLIMATE LANDSCAPE. 325 ATTENDEES (50 FARMERS, MIXED WITH LOCAL AND STATE OFFICIALS,FUNDERS, ORGANIZERS, AND ACADEMICS)ORGANIZED EVENT: "CHANGEMAKERS IN FOOD." PFI'S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR KAREN LEIBOWITZ JOINED KATHLEEN FINLAY (PRESIDENT OF GLYWOOD AND FOUNDER OF PLEIADES) AND NAVINA KHANNA (DIRECTOR OF THE HEAL FOOD ALLIANCE) FOR A PANEL DISCUSSION IN OCTOBER FOCUSED ON SHARING RESOURCES ACROSS THE FOOD MOVEMENT, DRAWING IN ISSUES OF SUSTAINABILITY, EQUITY, HEALTH, AND MORE.RESEARCH AND COLLABORATION: "EXCHANGE FELLOWSHIP ON FOOD AND CLIMATE."
