Organizations Filed Purposes:
RE-volv empowers people and communities to invest collectively in renewable energy. RE-volv finances community-based solar energy projects with a revolving funds raised through crowdfunding. RE-volv raises awareness about solar energy through its community-based solar projects and outreach programs across the United States.
In 2019 RE-volv financed nine new solar installations, more than any year in existence, bringing the total number of solar projects RE-volv has financed to 27. The 9 community-serving nonprofits were in seven states: California, Colorado, Illinois, New Mexico, Oregon, South Carolina, and Wisconsin. Collectively these nonprofits serve over 10,000 members of their communities with critical services that improve quality of life from affordable housing, to feeding the hungry, to providing support for veterans. Over the lifetime of the solar systems, these nonprofits will collectively save over $367,271.77 on their electric bills, which they can use to better serve their community.
During this time, they will avoid emitting 5.6 million pounds of carbon-dioxide, which is the equivalent of reducing automobile driving by 6.3 million miles, or planting 3,034 acres of trees. The real heroes behind these projects are the 80 volunteer "Solar Ambassadors who RE-volv trained and coached throughout the year to lead these projects at the community level, while educating their fellow community members about the benefits of solar energy and inspiring them to take action to promote and advocate for clean energy locally
